Purpose/Objective

This role is responsible for optimizing the logistics process, specifically focusing on reducing the turnaround time of trucks during unloading to boost operational efficiency.

This role will manage coal quality preservation by conducting regular inspections for fire hazards and managing protective measures against environmental factors.

This role is also pivotal for supervising the handling and storage of coal, ensuring proper stacking practices, and coordinating coal analysis for maintaining blending ratios.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Lead - Road Transport Operational Excellence: Monitor and reduce the turnaround time of trucks for unloading to enhance operational efficiency.

Conduct regular checks on coal stacks for signs of fire, smoke, or smouldering to preserve coal quality.

Oversee the tarpaulin coverage during monsoon to prevent spoilage by water and manage uncovering at the right time.

Supervise the stacking at the crush yard, ensuring effective and proper stacking without foreign materials.

Submit coal samples to the Chemistry department for analysis and maintain the blending ratio.

Manage and monitor business associates, resolving issues and ensuring timely and effective work.

Guide the team during emergencies, inform the fire and safety department, HOD, and contribute to incident reports.

Perform visual inspections of coal daily and ensure quenching of fires or smoke where required.

Equipment and Infrastructure Management: Manage the health and functionality of equipment such as dumpers, loaders, excavators, JCB, Hydra, and Dozers, conducting regular safety checks.

Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure proactive procurement requests (PR) for future needs and timely receipt of materials.

Oversee the Belt Utilization Factor (BUF)



and provide inputs to the operations team for improvement.

Monitor diesel consumption, filling, and availability of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) equipment.

Conduct thermography tests to prevent smouldering and address any temperature rise immediately.

Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as the operations team, maintenance department, and chemistry team to ensure seamless operations.

Engage with external stakeholders including suppliers, regulatory bodies, and emergency services as required Business Sustainability: Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.

Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.

Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Digitization and Automation: Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.

Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: BE/B.

tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range of years): 4+ years of experience in coal handling and transportation within the mining or logistics industry.

Preferred Industry: Preferred Industry: Power Plant, Mining, Logistics, or Heavy Industrial sector with a focus on bulk material handling.
