Component Development
Role Name - Assistant Manager - Component Development Electro Mechanical
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end tooling development for current components (dies, molds, jigs, fixtures).
Define tooling requirements and specifications based on product design and manufacturing process.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams for tool feasibility and optimization.
Review and approve tool design drawings (2D/3D).
Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and tooling feasibility during product development.
Manage tool trials, sampling (T0, T1, T2 ), and validation activities.
Monitor and improve tool performance, cycle time, and tool life.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for tooling-related defects and implement corrective actions.
Ensure tooling complies with quality standards, safety norms, and customer requirements.
Coordinate with suppliers for tool manufacturing, modifications, and maintenance.
Support APQP, PPAP documentation and approvals.
Drive cost optimization, localization, and continuous improvement projects.
Tooling Exposure
Injection molds (plastic components)
Press tools (sheet metal stamping dies)
Casting dies (HPDC, LPDC)
Jigs & fixtures (assembly and inspection)
Gauges and checking fixtures
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical / Tool Engineering / Production Engineering.
5 10 years of experience in E-component development or automotive electrical systems.
Strong knowledge of tool design and manufacturing processes.
Experience in CAD tools (CATIA, Creo, NX, SolidWorks).
Understanding of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawings.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Injection molding
Sheet metal stamping
Casting or machining
Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and quality tools.
Preferred Skills
Experience in automotive or EV components tooling.
Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, coatings, and wear mechanisms.
Exposure to simulation tools (Moldflow, AutoForm, etc.).
Understanding of tool maintenance and lifecycle management.
Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill).
