Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Own backend architecture and make sound technical decisions around microservices, APIs, data, messaging, and distributed systems.
- Design and build highly reliable RESTful APIs and asynchronous, event-driven services.
- Drive technical design discussions and translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions.
- Design systems for high availability, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL and relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance considerations.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
- Develop effective caching solutions using Redis, including cache-aside, TTL, and cache invalidation strategies.
- Work with Elasticsearch and MongoDB where appropriate for production use cases.
- Apply resilience patterns such as Circuit Breaker, Bulkhead, Retry, Timeout, and Rate Limiting.
- Lead complex debugging and troubleshooting efforts across production backend systems.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and drive improvements in application performance and scalability.
- Establish and promote backend engineering best practices around code quality, testing, code reviews, API design, and maintainability.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and raise the overall engineering quality of the team.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, architects, and other technical stakeholders.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical planning, and engineering roadmap discussions.
- Contribute to production readiness, observability, reliability,



and operational best practices in partnership with platform/SRE teams.
- Participate in and lead engineering interviews and hiring processes.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience building and maintaining backend systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in Java with extensive hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Strong experience designing and building microservices-based architectures.
- Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and backend problem-solving.
- Robust experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases in high-scale production systems.
- Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming platforms.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing systems using Redis caching, including cache-aside, TTL, and cache invalidation patterns.
- Production experience with Elasticsearch and MongoDB.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability strategies.
- Experience implementing resilience patterns such as Circuit Breaker, Retry, Bulkhead, and Rate Limiting.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, particularly in live production environments.
- Strong understanding of software engineering practices including unit/integration testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and release processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Experience contributing to or leading engineering hiring and interview processes.
