Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, scale, and maintain our core infrastructure. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge cloud architecture, robust operational reporting, automated delivery pipelines, and team leadership.
As a senior member of the team, you will not only write infrastructure as code (IaC) but also own the CI/CD ecosystem, mentor engineers, establish operational metrics, and ensure our platforms are secure, highly available, and cost-optimized.
Key Responsibilities:
1. GCP Infrastructure & Architecture
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Implement and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine).
- Define and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), primarily utilizing Terraform.
1. Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
- Own, optimize, and scale the companys CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, secure, and reliable application deployments.
- Standardize deployment workflows using modern delivery patterns (e.g., GitOps, Canary deployments, Blue/Green deployments).
- Integrate automated security scanning (SAST/DAST), vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks directly into the build and release pipelines.
- Ensure secret management and environment variables are securely handled across all delivery stages.
1. Operational Reporting & Observability
- Architect and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using GCP Operations Suite, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- Develop operational dashboards and generate regular reports on deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rates, and system uptime (DORA metrics).
- Lead FinOps initiatives by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on GCP cloud spend, driving cost-optimization strategies across teams.
1. Team Management & Leadership
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and career guidance to a team of platform and DevOps engineers.
- Act as the bridge between product engineering teams and infrastructure, aligning platform roadmaps with business objectives.
- Lead the engineering on-call rotation, establish SLAs/SLOs/SLIs, and conduct blameless post-mortems to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications & SkillsTechnical Expertise
- Experience: 5+ years in a Platform, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role, with at least 3 years of dedicated experience architecting solutions on GCP. CI/CD & GitOps: Deep hands-on experience building pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or GCP Cloud Build.
- Containerization: Deep operational knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (GKE). Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform (structuring modules, managing state at scale).
- Networking & Security: Strong understanding of GCP VPCs, IAM roles, Shared VPCs, load balancing, and cloud security best practices.
Leadership & Analytics
- Management: 2+ years of experience leading, managing, or mentoring engineering teams (e.g., Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager track).
- Data-Driven: Proven track record of building operational reports, tracking delivery metrics, and managing cloud budgets.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications (A Plus, Not a Must)
- Google Cloud Certified Qualified Cloud Architect
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
