Job Summary
Assistant Manager - Product (Technical) We Want To Change The World. We Believe It Starts With Education.
What Are We Doing
At The Apprentice Project (TAP), were building Indias boldest bet on education equity - an AI-powered learning buddy that helps thousands of government school students unlock 21st-century skills. We dont just teach coding or financial literacy - we spark self-confidence, creativity, and lifelong curiosity in children whove been told to "stay in their lane." Were not looking for employees. Were looking for co-builders - people who want to create generational change, one student at a time.
Who Were Looking For
Were looking for someone who lives at the intersection of product thinking and technical depth. You understand how systems talk to each other, how data flows through a stack, and how to make the right call on what gets built where. Youre not just writing specs - youre writing API code, reviewing system designs, and making trade-offs that engineering teams can trust. You understand conversational platforms well enough to know what makes them break at scale, and you care enough about the learner experience to make sure they dont. If youre someone who can hold a product roadmap in one hand and a technical architecture decision in the other - youll thrive here.
About The Role
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Reports to: Product Lead
Type: Full-time
What Youll Do
Glific Product Roadmap
- Own the roadmap for Glific as TAPs core conversational platform - powering WhatsApp and web-based chatbot experiences for 50,000+ daily active users.
- Define priorities across personalisation, grading, tutoring, messaging flows, learner journeys, and operational tooling.
- Translate user, program, support, and business needs into clear product requirements.
- Decide what should be built inside Glific versus handled by Frappe, AI/ML systems, or other backend services.
- Maintain a clear roadmap balancing user impact, engineering effort,
reliability, and cost.
Technical Product Ownership
- Own the product and technical requirements for the Glific-Frappe integration layer.
- Define and write backend API code where needed - especially for Glific-facing endpoints, webhook handlers, integration logic, and service contracts.
- Work with engineers to design reliable message-processing flows across Glific, Frappe, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and GCP services.
- Ensure Glific can support high-volume conversational workflows with strong observability, performance, and operational reliability.
- Review technical designs and make informed trade-offs across latency, accuracy, maintainability, and infrastructure cost.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering to break roadmap priorities into well-scoped technical work.
- Partner with AI/ML teams to integrate model outputs into Glific-driven learner experiences.
- Collaborate with program, content, support, and data teams to understand where conversational flows are succeeding or failing.
- Act as the primary product decision-maker for Glific-related features, integrations, and platform improvements.
Who You Are
- Solid technical product management experience for backend, platform, workflow, or integration-heavy products.
- Experience working with APIs in Python-based frameworks, webhooks, event-driven systems, and third-party SaaS integrations.
- Ability to reason clearly about system design, data flow, reliability, latency, and scale.
- Strong product sense - able to translate ambiguous user and business needs into prioritised roadmap decisions.
- Experience working with engineering teams on technical architecture and implementation planning.
- Comfortable working with databases and analytics systems such as PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or similar.
- Experience with cloud-based systems, preferably GCP.
- Prior experience managing or mentoring engineers.
Skills You Bring
- Technical Product Thinking: Ability to own a platform roadmap end-to-end - from user need to system design to shipped feature - with a clear understanding of engineering trade-offs at each step.
- Systems & Integration Design: Deep comfort with APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, and SaaS integrations - and the ability to write backend code where needed.
- Data & Analytics Fluency: Comfortable working with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and GCP - able to use data to diagnose where flows are breaking and what needs to improve.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Able to work effectively across engineering, AI/ML, program, content, and data teams - and act as the primary decision-maker for a complex, high-stakes platform.
What Success Looks Like
- Glifics roadmap is clear, prioritised, and consistently moving - teams always know whats being built and why.
- The Glific-Frappe integration layer is reliable, well-documented, and easy for engineers to work with.
- Conversational workflows support 50,000+ daily active users with strong performance, observability, and minimal failure.
- AI/ML model outputs are integrated cleanly into learner experiences through Glific.
- Product decisions are made with speed and confidence - with clear reasoning behind what gets built where.
