I'm working with a well-funded AI startup that's building infrastructure at the forefront of generative AI. Backed by leading venture capital firms, they've already achieved impressive commercial traction and are partnering with some of the world's most advanced AI organisations

They're now looking to hire a Founding Engine er who wants to help shape both the product and the engineering culture from the ground up.This is an opportunity to join early, work directly with the founders and solve complex engineering challenges across AI, distributed systems and large-scale data infrastructure.

The Opportunity

As one of the first engineering hires, you'll have significant influence over technical direction, architecture and engineering standards while building systems that operate at the cutting edge of

AI. You'll work across backend infrastructure, AI tooling and distributed systems, taking ownership of critical platform components and shipping quickly in a highly autonomous environme nt.

Responsibilities:

- Build and scale backend infrastructure powering a next-generation AI platform.
- Design and optimise distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Develop AI and data pipelines that support frontier machine learning workflows.
- Work directly with the founders to shape technical priorities and product direction.
- Build internal tooling that improves scalability, reliability and engineering efficiency
- Solve complex systems and infrastructure challenges in a fast-moving environment
- Help establish engineering best practices as the company grows.

What They're Looking For

You'll likely have:

- 3-8 years' experience in a highly technical software engineering setting.
- Strong backend engineering and distributed systems experience.
- Experience building and scaling cloud infrastructure.
- Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or developer tooling.
- Strong Python development experience.
- A genuine passion for the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.
- The ability to work independently with a high level of ownership.
