About the Role

Atrac Engineering is looking for an experienced and results-driven AGM Machining to lead and manage our machining operations for cylinder liners and sleeves.

The role will be responsible for driving production, productivity, quality, delivery, cost optimisation, machine utilisation and team performance across the machining department. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in precision machining and a proven track record of managing high-volume automotive/engine-component manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machining Operations & Production

- Lead end-to-end machining operations for cylinder liners, sleeves and related components.
- Ensure achievement of daily, monthly and annual production targets.
- Plan and optimise machine loading, capacity utilisation and production flow.
- Monitor and improve OEE, machine utilisation, productivity and throughput.
- Identify and eliminate machining bottlenecks.
- Reduce cycle time, setup/changeover time and idle time.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and customer delivery commitments.

2. Machining Process & Technical Excellence

- Drive optimisation of processes such as OD/ID turning, boring, facing, chamfering, grooving, grinding and honing, as applicable.
- Optimise cutting parameters, tooling, fixtures and machining methods.
- Improve tool life and reduce tooling/consumable costs.
- Establish and maintain standard cycle times and process parameters.
- Support current product development, process trials and process validation.
- Ensure robust and standardised machining processes.

3. Quality Management

- Ensure consistent achievement of dimensional and functional quality requirements.
- Drive reduction of rejection, rework and process variation.
- Monitor critical dimensions and process characteristics.
- Drive RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D,



CAPA and Poka-Yoke initiatives.
- Work closely with Quality to improve CP/CPK and process capability for critical characteristics.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, control plans and customer-specific requirements.
- Support customer audits, PPAP/APQP and new product launches where required.

4. Productivity & Cost Optimisation

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the machining department.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvement.
- Control machining conversion costs, tooling costs, coolant/consumable costs and manpower costs.
- Lead Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Evaluate opportunities for automation, semi-automation and process optimisation.
- Track and deliver measurable productivity and cost-saving projects.

5. Manpower & Team Management

- Lead and develop machining engineers, supervisors, shift in-charges, operators and technicians.
- Plan manpower deployment across shifts based on production requirements.
- Establish departmental KPIs and monitor individual/team performance.
- Develop technical skills and process knowledge within the machining team.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination across shifts.
- Build a culture of accountability, discipline and continuous improvement.

to ensure smooth material flow, machine availability, quality and on-time delivery. 7. Safety, 5S & Shop-Floor Discipline

- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and company policies.
- Drive 5S, visual management and workplace discipline.
- Ensure proper machine operating practices and safe handling of tools, fixtures and materials.
- Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and practices.
