SENIOR ACCOUNTANT -FINANCE & COMPLIANCE
Location: Bada Bazar, Kolkata
Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Experience:Minimum 8 years
Qualification: CA Inter / CA
CTC: Up to 12 LPA
Industry Preference: Real Estate experience will be an added advantage
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant Finance & Compliance who can independently manage accounting and financial functions across group companies, ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, handle financial transactions and inter-company accounting, and lead a team of accounting professionals.
The ideal candidate should have a strong and thorough understanding of accounting and finance disciplines, along with practical experience in finalisation of accounts, ROC compliance, group-company transactions, shareholding matters and financial/legal documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple group companies.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Review accounting entries, ledgers, reconciliations and financial records.
- Supervise preparation and finalisation of books of accounts.
- Prepare and review Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of complex financial transactions.
- Monitor receivables, payables, advances, loans and other financial balances.
- Conduct regular bank, ledger and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all major financial transactions.
2. Group Company & Inter-Company Transactions
- Handle accounting and reconciliation of inter-company transactions.
- Monitor inter-company loans, advances, payments, expenses and other transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting and documentation of transactions between group entities.
- Reconcile balances between group companies and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain proper records of related-party and group-company transactions.
3. Statutory Compliance & ROC
- Ensure timely completion of applicable statutory and regulatory compliances.
- Handle and coordinate ROC/MCA-related compliances and documentation.
- Maintain statutory records and corporate documentation.
- Coordinate with Company Secretaries, Chartered Accountants, auditors and legal professionals wherever required.
- Ensure proper documentation for statutory filings, corporate actions and financial transactions.
- Assist management in ensuring compliance with applicable Companies Act and other financial regulations.
- Has through knowledge of GST and TDS .
4. Finalisation & Audit
- Independently manage or coordinate the finalisation of accounts for group entities.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors and tax professionals.
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations and supporting documents required for audits.
- Ensure timely closure of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Support management during statutory, tax and internal audits.
5. Shareholding & Financial Transactions
- Maintain and review records relating to shareholding patterns and changes in shareholding.
- Assist in documentation and accounting related to share transfers, allotments, investments and other corporate financial transactions.
- Maintain records of loans, investments, advances and other significant financial transactions.
- Understand the accounting and documentation requirements associated with corporate transactions.
6. Legal & Financial Documentation
- Maintain and review financial and corporate documentation.
- Coordinate documentation relating to agreements, loans, investments, shareholding and inter-company transactions.
- Work closely with CS,
legal advisors, auditors and senior management on documentation requirements.
- Ensure that financial transactions are properly supported by relevant documentation.
7. Team Management
- Lead and supervise the accounting team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor day-to-day work.
- Review the teams accounting entries, reconciliations and reports.
- Train and guide junior and mid-level accounting professionals.
- Ensure timely completion of accounting, compliance and reporting activities.
- Establish proper accounting processes and internal controls within the team.
Required Skills & Competencies The candidate should possess: Strong and thorough knowledge of Accounting & Finance.
- Excellent understanding of finalisation of accounts.
- Practical knowledge of group-company accounting.
- Strong understanding of inter-company transactions and reconciliations.
- Valuable knowledge of ROC/MCA compliances.
- Understanding of shareholding and corporate financial transactions.
- Knowledge of financial statements and accounting standards/practices.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of legal and financial documentation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with CA, CS, auditors and legal professionals.
- Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
- Excellent team-handling and leadership abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently manage responsibilities and meet statutory deadlines.
Preferred Background Candidates with experience in any of the following will be preferred:
- Group companies / diversified business groups
- Real Estate
- Construction
- Investment companies
- Holding companies
- Corporate finance environments
- Companies having multiple related/inter-connected entities
Real Estate industry experience will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification
- CA
- CA Inter
- Candidates with strong practical experience in accounting, finance, compliance and group-company operations may also be considered.
