Job Title: General Physician
Department: General Medicine
Reports To: Medical Superintendent

1. Job Summary

The General Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The physician will evaluate patients, formulate appropriate treatment plans, coordinate with specialists when required, and ensure high standards of patient safety and quality care.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Clinical Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive assessment and clinical examination of patients.
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical findings and investigations.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments as clinically indicated.
- Review laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic reports.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when required.
- Provide appropriate preventive and health-promotion advice.
- Identify cases requiring specialist consultation and coordinate referrals.
- Provide follow-up care and ensure continuity of treatment.

B. Emergency & Inpatient Care

- Assess and manage patients presenting with acute medical conditions.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and participate in resuscitation when required.
- Manage inpatient medical cases and conduct regular patient reviews.
- Identify deterioration in patient condition and initiate appropriate intervention.
- Coordinate with ICU, Emergency, and specialty departments when required.
- Ensure appropriate documentation during admission, treatment, and discharge.

C. Outpatient Services

- Conduct OPD consultations and evaluate patients presenting with various complaints.
- Provide appropriate investigations and treatment.
- Counsel patients and attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide follow-up instructions and advise further evaluation when necessary.

D. Patient Safety & Quality





- Follow evidence-based clinical practices and hospital treatment protocols.
- Ensure appropriate patient identification and medication safety.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Report adverse events, clinical incidents, and significant patient safety concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

E. Documentation

- Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
- Document history, examination findings, diagnosis, investigations, treatment, and progress notes.
- Complete discharge summaries, referral notes, prescriptions, and other required medical documents.
- Ensure documentation is completed in accordance with hospital policies and NABH requirements.

F. Infection Prevention & Control

- Follow hospital infection prevention and control policies.
- Adhere to hand hygiene and appropriate PPE requirements.
- Follow standard and transmission-based precautions as applicable.
- Promote rational antibiotic use and antimicrobial stewardship practices.
- Participate in infection control and quality initiatives.

G. Multidisciplinary Coordination

- Coordinate effectively with nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other clinical departments.
- Communicate with specialists for appropriate consultation and referral.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding patient care.
- Provide clear and timely instructions to the nursing team.

H. Professional Responsibilities

- Maintain professional and ethical standards at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with patients,



relatives, and hospital staff.
- Participate in clinical meetings, CME programmes, audits, and training activities.
- Support hospital policies and contribute to continuous improvement of clinical services.

3. Qualifications

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid registration with the Kerala State Medical Councils / applicable medical council is mandatory.
- MD/DNB in General Medicine will be an advantage for positions requiring postgraduate qualification.

4. Experience

- Experience in General Medicine / General Physician practice preferred.
- Experience in managing OPD, inpatient, and emergency medical cases will be an advantage.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited hospital is preferred.

7. Working Conditions

- OPD and/or inpatient duties as assigned.
- Participation in emergency/on-call duties as per hospital requirements.
- Willingness to work rotational duties, weekends, and holidays when scheduled.

Job Type: Full time

Pay: From ₹150,000.00 per month
