Qualifications: GNM/BSc Nursing (Registered Nurse with a valid nursing license)
Experience: Minimum 1-3 years in a hospital setting. Freshers with internship experience can also apply.
Employment Type: Full-time
General Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient care following medical and nursing protocols.
- Monitor and document patient vitals, symptoms, and medical history.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and hygiene standards.
- Educate patients and families on health management, post-discharge care, and lifestyle changes.
- Maintain patient records accurately and ensure proper documentation during shift handovers.
Responsibilities by Department:
1. Emergency Department (Casualty):
- Provide immediate care for critically ill or injured patients.
- Perform triage to prioritize patient care based on severity.
- Assist doctors during trauma care, resuscitation, and minor procedures.
- Prepare emergency equipment (defibrillators, monitors) for use.
- Handle emergencies like cardiac arrest, strokes, and accidents efficiently.
2. General Ward:
- Manage routine patient care, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as prescribed.
- Monitor patient conditions and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Ensure the ward environment is clean and conducive for recovery.
- Educate patients on post-discharge care plans and medications.
3. Operating Theatre (OT):
- Prepare the OT for surgeries, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient vitals during surgery and report abnormalities promptly.
- Ensure strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control policies.
- Handle post-operative care, including dressing changes and patient monitoring.
4. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU):
- Provide specialized care for premature or critically ill new-borns.
- Operate NICU equipment like ventilators, incubators, and monitors.
- Administer oxygen, IV fluids, and medications as prescribed by neonatologists.
- Support and counsel parents on new-born care and breastfeeding techniques.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for neonates.
5. Labour Ward (Maternity):
- Assist obstetricians during normal and caesarean deliveries.
- Monitor fatal heart rates and maternal vitals during labour.
- Provide pain management and emotional support to labouring mothers.
- Perform postnatal care for mothers and current-borns.
- Educate mothers on breastfeeding, new-born care, and postnatal recovery.
6. Intensive Care Unit (ICU):
- Deliver care to critically ill patients requiring constant monitoring.
- Operate advanced life support equipment, including ventilators and monitors.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood transfusions under physician guidance.
- Handle emergencies like cardiac arrests and manage code blue situations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient conditions and interventions.
7. Private Ward:
- Provide individualized care to patients in a private room setting.
- Ensure patients receive medications, dressings, and necessary treatments on time.
- Offer emotional support to patients and families while educating them about recovery plans.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in private wards.
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Strong clinical and technical skills in nursing care.
- Proficiency in operating department-specific medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling abilities.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of infection control, hygiene, and emergency protocols.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
