The Shift In charge in the Dairy department oversees and manages the daily operations of a specific production shift within the dairy facility. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the dairy production process. Additionally, the Shift In charge is responsible for daily reporting and labor management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shift Management:
Supervise and lead a team of production staff during the designated shift.
Plan, organize, and schedule daily production activities to meet production targets and
quality standards.
2. Safety and Compliance:
Implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working
workplace.
Comply with all relevant industry regulations and standards related to dairy production.
3. Equipment Maintenance:
Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance
of production equipment.
Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as needed.
4. Inventory Management:
Monitor raw material and ingredient levels to prevent shortages.
Oversee inventory control and stock rotation to minimize waste.
5. Labor Handling:
Manage and allocate labor resources efficiently for various production tasks.
Provide direction and support to production staff, ensuring they follow standard
operating procedures.
6. Daily Reporting:
Prepare daily production reports detailing production output, quality control results,
and any issues or incidents during the shift.
Maintain accurate records of production data and performance metrics.
Communicate production updates to the Production Manager and other relevant
stakeholders.
7. Communication:
Maintain effective communication with other shift In charges and the Production
Manager to ensure seamless handovers between shifts.
Report any significant issues or incidents to the Production Manager promptly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science, Food Technology, .
Proven experience in dairy production, with at least 1 - 2 years in dairy production
Knowledge of dairy processing equipment and techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of food safety and quality control standards.
Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting.
Working Conditions:
The Shift In charge may be required to work in a dairy production facility, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and odors.
Shift work is often required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
