Senior Database Administrator – PostgreSQL / AWS RDS

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL / AWS RDS) to manage, optimize, monitor, and modernize high-load PostgreSQL environments across on-premises and AWS RDS platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and support PostgreSQL databases in on-premises and AWS RDS environments.

Perform SQL query optimization, performance tuning, indexing, and bottleneck analysis.

Work extensively with PostgreSQL internals, VACUUM, autovacuum, checkpoints, memory and configuration tuning.

Lead PostgreSQL version upgrades, compatibility testing, rollback planning, and production cutovers.

Validate stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and SQL queries during database upgrades.

Design and manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL environments, including security, backups, snapshots, monitoring, HA, and scalability.

Lead/support on-premises PostgreSQL to AWS RDS migrations with minimal downtime.

Implement backup, restore, replication, failover,



and disaster recovery strategies.

Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams on database architecture and migrations.

Automate database operations using Bash, Python, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines.

Monitor and troubleshoot database health, availability, performance, and scalability.

Required Skills

7+ years of solid PostgreSQL DBA experience

Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL Internals

Strong Performance Tuning & Query Optimization

Hands-on AWS RDS PostgreSQL

Experience with PostgreSQL upgrades and compatibility testing

Experience with database migration and modernization

Strong knowledge of HA, replication, failover, backup & DR

Good understanding of Linux/Unix

Experience with AWS RDS, VPC, IAM, EC2, S3

Scripting experience with Bash/Python

Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD and automation

Strong troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹140,000.00 per month
