About Ship Smart Exim Pvt. Ltd.
Ship Smart Exim Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian export company focused on supplying quality Indian products to international markets. We are looking to expand aggressively in the export of fast-moving consumer products, food products, agricultural products, spices, processed foods, and other consumable products manufactured or sourced from India.
We are seeking an experienced and highly driven Export Manager who can not only manage export operations but, more importantly, develop international markets, generate buyers, and build long-term business relationships.
Key Responsibilities1. International Business Development
- Identify high-demand and fast-moving Indian food and consumable products suitable for export.
- Research international markets and identify countries with strong demand for Indian products.
- Develop new export opportunities across markets including the Middle East, Africa, Europe, USA, Southeast Asia, and other suitable regions.
- Identify and approach importers, distributors, wholesalers, supermarket chains, food companies, and other potential buyers.
- Generate regular enquiries and convert them into confirmed export orders.
2. Buyer Acquisition & Network Development
The candidate must have a strong understanding of how to find genuine international buyers and preferably an existing network of buyers, importers, distributors, or agents.
Responsibilities include:
- Using personal industry contacts and professional networks to generate export opportunities.
- Finding buyers through trade databases, B2B platforms, import/export data, trade fairs, chambers of commerce, LinkedIn, distributor networks, and direct outreach.
- Building relationships with genuine overseas importers and distributors.
- Verifying buyers and assessing their credibility before entering into business.
- Maintaining a structured database of potential and existing international buyers.
- Developing country-wise and product-wise buyer acquisition strategies.
3. Product & Market Development
The Export Manager will actively identify products that have strong and recurring international demand.
Potential product categories may include:
- Spices and spice products
- Turmeric, cumin, fennel, chilli and other Indian spices
- Rice and other food grains
- Pulses and agricultural products
- Mango pulp and fruit products
- Processed and packaged food products
- Ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products
- Snacks and Indian food products
- Dehydrated vegetables and food ingredients
- Animal feed and agricultural by-products
- Other fast-moving and regularly consumed products exported from India
The candidate should continuously evaluate which products are in demand, which countries are importing them, expected margins, competition, pricing, and regulatory requirements.
4. Sales & Negotiation
- Prepare and send quotations, product specifications, samples, and commercial offers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, Incoterms, quantities, and supply contracts.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Work towards achieving monthly and annual export sales targets.
- Follow up consistently with buyers until enquiries are converted into confirmed orders.
- Build repeat business and long-term supply relationships.
5. Export Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, inspection agencies, banks, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure smooth execution of export orders from order confirmation to shipment.
- Have working knowledge of export documentation, including:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading
- Certificate of Origin
- Phytosanitary Certificate, where applicable
- Health Certificates and food-related certificates
- Insurance documents
- Letter of Credit and export payment procedures
- Understand Incoterms such as FOB, CIF, CFR, EXW, and others.
- Monitor shipment schedules and ensure timely delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in international exports, export sales, or international business development.
- Experience in food, FMCG, agriculture, spices, processed foods, or consumable products will be highly preferred.
- Proven experience in generating international buyers and converting them into export business.
- Existing network of overseas buyers, importers, distributors, or agents will be a major advantage.
- Strong knowledge of international trade practices and export procedures.
- Ability to independently identify products and markets with strong export potential.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Good understanding of international payment terms and buyer risk management.
- Ability to travel internationally for trade exhibitions, buyer meetings, and business development when required.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional foreign languages will be an advantage.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for a person whose role is limited to processing export documentation or handling shipments.
We are specifically looking for a business-oriented Export Manager who can:
- Bring or develop genuine international buyers.
- Identify fast-moving products with repeat demand.
- Understand which products can be successfully exported from India.
- Develop new markets independently.
- Build a strong pipeline of international enquiries.
- Convert opportunities into profitable and recurring export business.
- Help Ship Smart Exim build a sustainable and scalable international sales network.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be evaluated based on:
- Number of genuine buyers developed.
- Number of qualified enquiries generated.
- Export orders secured.
- Export sales revenue achieved.
- Gross profit generated from export business.
- Number of active countries and markets developed.
- Number of repeat buyers and repeat orders.
- Growth of the company's international buyer network.
- Development of new high-potential export products.
Compensation
Salary: Competitive and based on experience, existing industry network, and proven ability to generate export business.
A performance-based incentive or commission structure may also be offered based on export sales and business generated.
