A Video Editor is a post-production professional responsible for taking raw footage, audio, and graphics and assembling them into a cohesive, engaging final video that aligns with a creative vision. They ensure logical sequencing, adjust pacing, correct colors, and integrate sound elements to effectively deliver a narrative. Key Responsibilities
- Footage Assembly: Review, organize, trim, and piece together raw video components in chronological or narrative order.
- Story & Pacing: Maintain visual continuity and manage scene pacing to hook and hold audience attention.
- Audio Integration: Sync dialogue, select background music, and insert sound effects or voice-overs to enhance emotional tone.
- Visual Enhancements: Implement color correction, basic motion graphics, subtitles, typography, and visual transitions.
- Collaboration: Work alongside directors, marketing managers, and creative leads to match project specs and make revisions based on feedback.
- Platform Optimization: Format, compress, and export videos tailored to unique platforms like YouTube, TikTok, television, or corporate sites.
Required Technical Skills
- NLE Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of industry standard tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer.
- Audio & Graphics Tools: Familiarity with supplementary programs such as Adobe After Effects (for motion graphics) and Adobe Audition (for sound clean-up).
- Technical Workflow: Solid understanding of video codecs, file formats, frame rates, aspect ratios, and media management systems.

- Narrative Sensitivity: An innate sense of storytelling, timing, and structural logic.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous eye for audio sync errors, grading mismatches, and continuity mistakes.

An Album Designer (commonly in the wedding, event, or music industry)
is a creative professional responsible for transforming raw collections of photos or media into visually compelling, narrative-driven physical or digital photobooks and covers. They handle the curation, photo-retouching, layout structuring, and color correction to tell a seamless story while preparing print-ready files. Key Responsibilities
- Visual Storytelling & Curation: Select, cull, and arrange thousands of client photographs into a chronological or thematic flow that captures the emotional weight of an event.
- Layout & Composition: Create customized page-by-page grid layouts balancing white space, margins, and typography across photo spreads.
- Image Retouching & Correction: Perform premium skin retouching, object removal, background clean-up, and localized color exposure adjustments.
- Color Grading & Tone Consistency: Apply uniform color correction across various lighting environments to ensure a cohesive aesthetic throughout the album.
- Print Preparation: Check for strict crop lines, bleed margins, binding constraints, and safe-zones before outputting layered, high-resolution print-ready files (e.g., PDFs).
- Client & Team Collaboration: Implement iterations and revisions requested by clients, account managers, or chief photographers.
Required Technical Skills
- Design & Editing Software: Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe InDesign.
- Specialized Layout Tools: Familiarity with qualified, industry-standard album building software like Pixellu SmartAlbums or Fundy Designer.
- Print Production Knowledge: Solid understanding of paper types (matte, glossy, lustrous), resolution constraints (DPI/PPI), color profiles (CMYK vs. RGB), and physical binding variations.
Core Qualities & Soft Skills
- Aesthetic Eye: An innate grasp of spatial balance, typography pairings, color theories, and visual geometry.
- Meticulous Precision: Sharp attention to tiny details like fine margins, micro-misalignments, skin tone consistency, and text typos.
