ZugZwang Academy is looking for an experienced and passionate Online Math Tutor who can teach mathematics at a higher level and help students develop strong conceptual understanding, mathematical thinking, problem-solving ability, and logical reasoning. The role is suited for someone who enjoys working with children and can go beyond textbook-based teaching. ZugZwang's Math program emphasizes mathematical thinking rather than memorisation of formulas, aligning with its broader focus on problem-solving and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct engaging online mathematics classes for school-age students.
- Teach higher-level mathematics concepts with strong conceptual clarity.
- Develop students' logical reasoning, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Help students approach unfamiliar and challenging problems independently.
- Prepare structured lesson plans, worksheets, assignments and practice problems.
- Teach according to the student's level, learning pace and individual requirements.
- Introduce Olympiad-style and advanced problem-solving wherever appropriate.
- Encourage students to explain their reasoning rather than simply provide answers.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and the academic team.
- Maintain a professional and engaging online classroom environment.
- Use digital tools, interactive boards and online resources effectively.
- Participate in curriculum development and contribute ideas for improving the Math program.





Candidate Requirements

- Master's degree in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / a closely related field preferred.
- 2–3 years of teaching experience in Mathematics.
- Experience teaching students online is strongly preferred.
- Strong command of school-level and advanced mathematics.
- Experience with Olympiad Mathematics, competitive mathematics or higher-order problem solving will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in a simple, structured and child-friendly manner.
- Robust patience and ability to engage children during online sessions.
- Comfortable using Zoom/Google Meet, digital whiteboards and other online teaching tools.
- Passion for mentoring children and developing their thinking abilities.

What We Look For

We are looking for a tutor who is not just a homework or textbook teacher. The ideal candidate should be able to make students think, question, explore different approaches and develop confidence in solving unfamiliar problems.
