Civil Engineer / Project Engineer

Location: TiruppurExperience: 8 - 12 years

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Civil Engineer / Project Engineer to independently manage day-to-day construction site operations, labour productivity, project execution, material planning, cost control, and project schedules.

The candidate should be capable of taking ownership of the site and ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Site Management

- Manage day-to-day construction activities and coordinate all site teams.
- Plan daily and weekly work activities.
- Coordinate civil contractors, subcontractors, supervisors, and labour.
- Ensure work progresses according to drawings, specifications, and project schedule.
- Identify and resolve site issues quickly.

2. Labour & Out-turn Management

- Monitor daily labour strength and productivity.
- Set daily/weekly out-turn targets for each activity.
- Track actual production against planned targets.
- Improve labour productivity and reduce idle time.
- Maintain daily labour and productivity reports.
- Coordinate with contractors to achieve targeted quantities.

3. Cost Control

- Monitor project expenditure against the approved budget.
- Track material consumption and wastage.
- Monitor labour and subcontractor costs.
- Identify cost overruns and take corrective action.
- Maintain quantity and consumption records.
- Assist in preparing project cost reports and forecasts.

4. Project Management

- Prepare and monitor project schedules.




- Plan manpower, materials, equipment, and resources in advance.
- Track project milestones and ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Escalate delays, technical issues, and cost risks to management.

5. Material Management

- Prepare material requirements based on project progress.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery.
- Monitor stock levels and material consumption.
- Minimise wastage, theft, and unnecessary purchases.

6. Quality Control

- Ensure construction is carried out as per drawings and specifications.
- Monitor workmanship and construction quality.
- Coordinate required testing and inspections.
- Identify defective work and ensure rectification.

7. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain daily site reports.
- Prepare weekly progress reports.
- Track quantities executed and pending.
- Maintain labour, material, and subcontractor records.
- Report project progress, productivity, cost, and issues to management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The engineer will be evaluated primarily on:

- Project completion within planned schedule
- Daily/weekly out-turn achieved
- Labour productivity
- Cost per sq.ft / activity
- Material wastage




- Budget vs actual expenditure
- Quality and rework percentage
- Material availability and planning
- Site discipline and coordination

Required Skills

- Solid knowledge of RCC, masonry, plastering, flooring, waterproofing, finishing and general building construction.
- Good understanding of quantities and BOQ.
- Ability to calculate material requirements and consumption.
- Strong labour and contractor management skills.
- Good planning and scheduling ability.
- Cost-conscious and commercially aware.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Basic knowledge of Excel and project management software.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Should be willing to work actively at the construction site.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in residential/commercial building projects and those who have independently handled projects from structure through finishing will be preferred.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who does more than supervise labour.

The ideal candidate should think like a Project Manager—planning tomorrow’s work today, knowing how much should be produced, how much it should cost, what materials are required, where the project is losing money, and what needs to be done to keep the project on schedule.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
