About the Project

Shubh Aarambh 2.0, Ek Nayi Pehal, is a Viksit Gaon pilot under the Community Development Programme. It aims to strengthen education, sports, work readiness, community institutions and local systems to build resilient, skilled and empowered communities.

The programme includes remedial learning for Grades 3-8, academic support for Grades 9-10, Sports for Development and life-skills education, employability education, sports excellence, scholarship support and engagement with schools, parents, Gram Panchayats and School Management Committees.

Under the academic-support component, learners in Grades 9-10 will receive need-based support in Mathematics, Science and English through Community Learning Centres. The intervention will use baseline assessment and learner profiling, guided study plans, revision, practice papers, mock examinations, study-skills support, mentoring and parent engagement to strengthen academic performance and board-examination readiness.

Purpose of the Consultancy

The Academic Support Consultant will provide structured,



subject-specific support to learners in Grades 9-10, with priority given to the bottom 30% identified through baseline assessment and school-level information. The consultant will strengthen understanding of key concepts, address learning gaps and prepare learners for school and board examinations.

The consultant will also help learners develop effective study habits, time-management skills, examination-writing strategies, confidence and readiness to continue their education after Grade 10.

Overall Responsibility

- Dedicated and passionate Academic Support Educator to coach Grade 9th and 10th students in specific subjects to ensure their success in board examinations.
- The ideal candidate will provide targeted academic support, foster a positive learning environment, and equip students with the skills and confidence needed to achieve academic excellence.
- Promoting a spirit of self-development among children to help complete formal education.

Key responsibilities:

Subject-Specific Coaching:

- Deliver focused instruction in [identified specific subjects, e.g., Mathematics, Science, language based on the Grade 9th and 10 th curriculums.
- Address individual learning needs to bridge knowledge gaps and enhance understanding of key concepts.

Exam Preparation:

- Design and implement strategies to help students excel in board examinations.
- Provide training on effective study techniques, time management, and exam-writing skills.

Performance Monitoring:

- Conduct regular assessments and mock tests to track student progress.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas of improvement and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

Individualized Support:

- Offer one-on-one guidance to students who require additional help.
- Develop personalized learning plans to cater to diverse academic needs.

Engagement and Motivation:

- Create a supportive and motivating learning workplace.
- Encourage students to develop a growth mindset and a positive attitude toward learning. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the academic team, school staff, and parents to ensure alignment on student progress and goals.
- Provide timely feedback and updates on student performance.




- To engage students studying in standard 10th and 12th with various creative teaching learning strategies and peer learning strategies at the school and community level.
- To support and effectively deliver provide various activities for the academic subjects.
- Effective delivery of Holistic Development Module along with academic support for adolescents studying in standard 10th at the community learning center.
- To prepare yearly, monthly and weekly plans to ensure timely completion of desired learning objectives outlined in the project.
- To support and provide the students with career guidance and overcome exam anxiety and stress.
- To create a congenial learning environment that encourages collaborative joyful learning among children to increase their interest in learning.
- To participate in the capacity-building programs as per the project design.
- To provide constant feedback/learning based on implemented curriculum to help refine the curriculum.
- To maintain records of daily attendance, and daily activities conducted by children individually and in the respective group. To maintain MIS records as per the prescribed formats.

- To document and provide timely and quality updates and reports to key stakeholders regularly.
- To support and facilitate data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- To keep oneself updated on all the developments in safety rules, regulation of child rights and protection, and ensuring its integration in program

Qualification requirement

- Graduation in any stream and certification in Education or equivalent B.Ed./ M.Ed / or Post Graduation is preferable.
- Proven experience teaching Grade 10 to 12 students, preferably in public exam preparation.
- Robust subject knowledge and expertise in [specific subjects].

Past professional experience

- About 1-2 years of experience in a social sector/ community program or similar field of education and teaching to grade 10th and 12th students.
- Experience in coaching students for competitive or board examinations.
- Familiarity with public examination patterns and syllabi.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and resources for teaching.

Skills required:

- Basic communication skills (written and oral) in Tamil and English
- Good facilitation skills
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; and with all levels of staff, volunteers, and school authorities
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to learn about, commit to, and educate others on program mission and goals.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
