Job Description – OT Technician
Job Title: OT Technician / Operation Theatre Technician

Job Summary
The OT Technician is responsible for assisting the surgical team in the preparation, operation, and maintenance of the Operation Theatre. The role includes ensuring availability and sterility of instruments and equipment, assisting surgeons and nurses during procedures, and maintaining strict infection-control and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare the Operation Theatre before scheduled procedures.
Arrange and check surgical instruments, equipment, consumables, and implants as required.
Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
Maintain sterile techniques and follow infection-prevention protocols.
Perform cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and appropriate storage of surgical instruments.
Operate and check OT equipment such as cautery, suction apparatus, OT tables, lights, and other surgical equipment.
Assist with surgical counts of instruments, needles, swabs, and other materials.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, and disposal of biomedical waste.
Check availability and expiry dates of OT medicines, consumables, and emergency supplies.
Assist in shifting and positioning patients safely before and after surgery.
Maintain OT records, registers, checklists, and documentation.
Coordinate with CSSD, housekeeping, nursing, stores,
and other departments.
Report equipment malfunction, stock shortages, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
Follow hospital policies, occupational-safety procedures, and infection-control guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate qualified conduct at all times.
Qualifications
Diploma/B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology or equivalent qualification.
Relevant certification/registration as required by applicable local regulations.
Previous hospital/OT experience is preferred; freshers may be considered depending on the position.
Key Skills
Knowledge of surgical instruments and OT procedures.
Knowledge of sterilization and infection-control practices.
Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure in emergency and scheduled procedures.
Attention to detail and strong adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
Basic knowledge of OT equipment and troubleshooting.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and emergency duties.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
