1. Job Purpose
The ICU Intensivist will be responsible for providing comprehensive critical care management to patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, ensuring timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, continuous monitoring, and coordination with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 clinical management and supervision of critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Conduct regular patient assessments and monitor vital parameters, investigations, and clinical progress.
- Manage critically ill patients requiring ventilatory, hemodynamic, and other advanced life-support measures.
- Initiate and manage emergency treatment, including CPR and advanced life-support protocols whenever required.
- Manage patients on mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, vasopressors, inotropes, and other critical-care therapies.
- Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, renal, infectious, and multi-organ critical illnesses.
- Coordinate with cardiologists, CVTS surgeons, physicians, surgeons, and other specialists for patient management.
- Review and interpret laboratory investigations, ABG, ECG, imaging, and other relevant reports.
- Ensure appropriate antibiotic therapy, fluid management, electrolyte correction, nutrition, and other supportive treatment.
- Conduct ICU rounds and maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts and maintain continuity of patient care.
- Communicate with patients' relatives regarding clinical condition, treatment plan, prognosis, and major clinical developments as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ICU protocols, infection-control practices, and patient-safety standards.
- Supervise and guide ICU RMO/medical officers, nurses,
and other ICU staff.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and referral of patients whenever required.
- Participate in emergency codes, rapid response, and disaster/emergency management activities.
- Ensure proper documentation of procedures, medication orders, progress notes, and discharge/death summaries.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement activities, morbidity and mortality meetings, and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Ensure rational utilization of ICU resources, equipment, medicines, and consumables.
- Maintain professional, ethical, and confidential conduct at all times.
3. Clinical Skills & Competencies
The candidate should be competent in:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Airway management and endotracheal intubation
- Central venous and arterial access procedures, as per competence
- Management of shock and hemodynamic instability
- Sepsis and septic shock management
- Acute coronary syndrome and critically ill cardiac patients
- Post-operative and post-CABG critical care
- Management of arrhythmias and cardiac emergencies
- ABG interpretation
- Emergency resuscitation and code management
- Renal and electrolyte emergencies
- Multiorgan failure management
4. Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/DNB in Critical Care Medicine, Anaesthesiology, General Medicine,
Emergency Medicine, or an equivalent relevant specialty.
- Fellowship/qualification in Critical Care Medicine will be preferred.
- Valid registration with the applicable State Medical Council/National Medical Commission.
- ACLS/BLS certification preferred.
- Relevant ICU experience preferred, particularly in a cardiac/tertiary-care hospital.
5. Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant ICU/critical-care experience preferred.
- Experience in cardiac ICU, post-CABG care, ventilator management, and emergency critical care will be an advantage.

Note: The duties and responsibilities may be modified or expanded by hospital management according to clinical requirements, hospital policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
