Senior Safety Officer – Job Description

Position: Senior Safety Officer
Experience: 15–20 Years
Location: Avadi Site
Joining: Immediate Joiners Preferred

Job Responsibilities

- Monitor and implement safety procedures at the construction site.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections, toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures.
- Conduct Risk Assessment, JSA and HIRA.
- Monitor safety for working at height, scaffolding, excavation, lifting and material handling.
- Conduct fire safety drills and ensure emergency preparedness.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and prepare reports.
- Conduct safety training and awareness programs for workers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and workers on safety matters.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, registers and statutory documentation.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure timely closure of safety observations.

Technical Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices and procedures.
- Valuable knowledge of IS Codes,



Indian Safety Standards and statutory requirements.
- Risk Assessment, JSA and HIRA.
- Knowledge of PPE, work permits and emergency procedures.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety and accident prevention.
- Experience in safety audits, inspections and incident investigation.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and Excel for safety documentation and reporting.

Preferred Skills / Advantages

- Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS) or equivalent safety qualification.
- NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience handling safety activities for large-scale construction projects.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to independently manage overall site safety activities.
- Ability to train and guide safety officers, supervisors and workers.
- Immediate joiners will be preferred.
- Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Safety Engineering, or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 15–20 years of relevant construction safety experience.
