Job Description: Team Lead – Software Development

Position Overview-

Experience- 8+ years

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Team Lead – Software Development to lead a software development team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Java or .NET development, a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and proven experience in Agile software development, team management, application architecture, and delivery of complex projects.

This role is intended for a technical leader who has experience building applications and projects from the ground up (greenfield development), rather than primarily working on customization, maintenance, or enhancement activities. The candidate should be capable of translating business requirements into technical solutions, contributing to architecture and design decisions, creating architectural diagrams, and guiding the team through the complete development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will combine technical leadership, hands-on development expertise, architecture/design skills, project ownership, and people management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

- Lead a team of software developers and provide technical direction, mentoring, and guidance.
- Own the technical delivery of projects from requirements analysis through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Participate actively in technical discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and solution planning.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, design principles, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and provide appropriate solutions.
- Guide developers in selecting appropriate technologies, frameworks, tools, and development approaches.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the development team and key stakeholders.
- Promote best practices around maintainability, scalability, security, performance, and reliability.

2. Greenfield / Application Development

- Demonstrated experience in developing applications and projects from scratch, including taking ownership of a new application from concept and requirements through production deployment.
- Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and secure enterprise applications.
- Participate in requirements analysis and convert business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.
- Define application structure, modules, components, interfaces, data flows, and integration points.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and technical prototypes where required.
- Establish development standards and technical foundations for new applications.
- Ensure applications are designed for scalability, performance, maintainability, and future extensibility.
- Lead the team in implementing complete end-to-end application solutions rather than limiting the role to customization or minor enhancements.

3. Software Architecture & Design

- Participate in and contribute to solution architecture and application architecture.
- Design technical solutions for complex business and technical requirements.




- Create and maintain architectural and technical design documentation.
- Develop and review architectural diagrams, including:
- High-Level Architecture (HLA)
- Low-Level Design (LLD)
- Application/component diagrams
- System context diagrams
- Sequence diagrams
- Data-flow diagrams
- Integration diagrams
- Deployment diagrams
- Evaluate architectural options and recommend appropriate solutions based on scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and cost.
- Define application components, interfaces, APIs, services, integrations, and technology dependencies.
- Work closely with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, DevOps, QA, and infrastructure teams.
- Identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies.
- Ensure architectural decisions are aligned with enterprise standards and business objectives.

4. Java / .NET Development

The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in either Java or .NET, with a willingness and ability to work with modern enterprise development practices.

Java

Experience may include:

- Core Java

- JPA / Hibernate
- SQL and relational databases
- Messaging/integration technologies
- Enterprise application development
- Unit and integration testing

OR

.NET

Experience may include:

- C#
- .NET / .NET Core / modern .NET
- ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core
- Web APIs
- Entity Framework
- REST APIs and web services
- Microservices
- SQL and relational databases
- Enterprise application development
- Unit and integration testing

The candidate should be comfortable understanding existing systems as well as designing and building new applications from the ground up.

5. SDLC & Engineering Practices

- Solid understanding and practical experience across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Participate in requirements gathering, estimation, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Define development tasks, technical milestones, dependencies, and delivery plans.
- Ensure development activities follow established SDLC processes and organizational standards.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and design standards.
- Promote automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve development processes, engineering practices, and delivery efficiency.
- Ensure appropriate technical documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

6. Agile Development

- Work effectively within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, QA, and other stakeholders.




- Break complex requirements into manageable technical tasks and user stories.
- Provide technical estimates and contribute to sprint planning and release planning.
- Identify and manage technical dependencies and risks.
- Ensure the team maintains a sustainable pace while meeting quality and delivery expectations.
- Promote continuous improvement and Agile engineering practices.

7. Team Management & People Leadership

- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of software engineers.
- Allocate work based on team members' skills, experience, and project priorities.
- Monitor individual and team performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Conduct regular technical mentoring and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Identify skill gaps and support team members in developing their technical capabilities.
- Encourage collaboration, ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Support recruitment and technical evaluation of software developers when required.
- Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on quality and delivery.
- Resolve technical and interpersonal issues within the team effectively.
- Serve as a bridge between developers, management, architects, business teams, and other stakeholders.

8. Complex Project Delivery

- Lead development teams working on complex, enterprise-scale, or technically challenging projects.
- Break large and complex problems into manageable technical components.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and delivery challenges.
- Drive solutions for performance, scalability, integration, security, and reliability issues.
- Manage multiple technical priorities while maintaining delivery commitments.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve project dependencies.
- Ensure successful delivery of projects within agreed scope, quality, timelines, and technical standards.
- Take ownership of technical issues through to resolution.

9. Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Project Managers, Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and support teams.
- Understand business objectives and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on technical progress, risks, dependencies, and issues.
- Participate in solution discussions, requirement clarification, technical workshops, and project planning.
- Manage expectations and communicate technical constraints and trade-offs clearly.

10. Quality, Security & Performance

- Ensure software is developed according to established quality standards.
- Promote clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, reusable components, and maintainable architecture.
- Ensure appropriate unit, integration, system, and regression testing practices.
- Identify and address application performance issues.
- Consider security requirements throughout application design and development.
- Support secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure applications are scalable and resilient for expected business volumes.
- Conduct technical and design reviews to identify potential quality and architectural issues early.
