Title: HR Compliance & Policy Specialist
Location: Remote
Engagement: Part-time / Project-Based
Availability: 2–3 hours per day, Monday–Friday
Duration: Until the HR framework is fully reviewed, implemented and handed over
About the Role:
We are a growing UK-based company with existing HR processes and procedures in place. We are now looking for an experienced HR Compliance & Policy Specialist to conduct a complete review of our HR framework, identify gaps and risks, strengthen our policies and contracts, and build a clear system that our team can confidently follow going forward.
This is a project-based role. Your responsibility will be to assess what we currently have, fix what is missing or unclear, implement the required processes, train the relevant team members, and complete a full handover once everything is in place.
What You’ll Do:
Audit our existing HR policies, contracts, processes and employee documentation.
Identify compliance gaps, loopholes, inconsistencies and areas of risk.
Review and strengthen employment contracts, probation, notice, termination, confidentiality, IP, equipment and remote-working terms.
Create or improve essential HR policies covering conduct, leave, attendance, WFH, performance, disciplinary/grievance procedures, harassment, IT/data security, conflicts of interest, expenses, company assets and employee exits.
Build clear probation, performance, disciplinary and termination frameworks with appropriate documentation and escalation.
Establish practical employee lifecycle SOPs covering recruitment → onboarding → probation → employment → performance → resignation/termination → exit.
Strengthen processes for company laptops/equipment, access, data and asset returns.
Review our processes for employees working remotely from India and employees working onsite in the UK, identifying areas requiring UK/India legal, tax or specialist review.
Establish proper HR records, acknowledgements, checklists and documentation.
Train management/HR on the revised framework and ensure the processes are practical and enforceable.
Deliver a complete HR compliance, policy and process handover so the company can manage everything independently after the project.
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of HR experience, preferably in HR compliance, HR governance, HR consulting or HR management.
Strong hands-on experience creating and reviewing HR policies, contracts and SOPs.
Good understanding of UK employment practices.
Experience with India-based/remote teams is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle, probation, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes.
Excellent documentation, process-building and problem-solving skills.
Ability to independently audit an existing HR setup and identify issues others may overlook.
Experience working with growing companies and implementing HR frameworks from the ground up is a strong advantage.
Ability to identify when skilled legal/tax advice is required and coordinate with the appropriate specialists.
What Success Looks Like:
By the end of the engagement, we want to have a complete, organised and practical HR framework with the right policies, contracts, processes, documentation and accountability mechanisms in place so our internal team can confidently manage HR without ongoing dependence on the specialist.
This is not a routine HR administration role. We are looking for someone who can come in, find the gaps, fix them and leave the company with a system that works.
