Job Description
The Opportunity: Architect the Future of Developer Experience. We are seeking a hands-on, high-impact Software Factory Architect to champion the greenfield creation and deployment of our Global Software Factory & Developer Platform in Bengaluru. This is a unique, high-influence role.
- You are an exceptional engineer and architect at heart.
- Your mission is to define, develop, and deploy the up-to-date tool stack and agile engineering methodologies for the entire Vehicle Motion (VM) business unit globally. You will act as the ultimate architect-developer and technical coach.
- You will build core tooling, automate complex release pipelines, and actively coach and mentor other developers on how to adopt these new, cutting-edge, and AI-accelerated ways of working.
- Your mission is to build an environment that makes writing safety-critical software fast, automated, and enjoyable.
Your Mission & Responsibilities:
- As the Software Factory Architect, you will own the defining, building, and deploying of the following core technical stack: Define the Development Environment:
Standardize and roll out modern IDE experiences using Visual Studio Code, accelerating development by embedding GitHub Copilot and leveraging containerized developer environments via DevContainers.
- Orchestrate CI/CT Pipelines: Design and build continuous integration and continuous testing automation utilizing GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners.
- Modernize Build Systems: Engineer robust build and dependency structures using Conan
- Make, custom build scripts, and the internal Make Tool Chain (MTC).
- Automate Testing & Simulation: Integrate advanced, safety-critical testing frameworks including Cantata, ECU-TEST, and custom simulation frameworks.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Develop and maintain scalable, reproducible platform infrastructure using Python, PowerShell, Docker containers.
- Accelerate AI Adoption: Lead the change by educating and coaching the global development team on modern engineering methodologies and the productive adoption of AI coding assistants.
- Establish Platform Governance & Standards: Define and enforce coding standards, architectural guidelines, and engineering best practices across the Vehicle Motion organization.
- Create standardized templates and frameworks to ensure consistency and quality across all development teams.
- Monitor Performance & Developer Productivity: Establish metrics and monitoring systems to track CI/CT pipeline efficiency, build times, and developer productivity.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to continuously improve the developer experience and reduce time-to-market.
- Integrate Security & Compliance: Embed security scanning, compliance checks, and safety-critical standards into the automated pipeline.
- Ensure all tooling and processes align with automotive industry regulations and organizational security policies.
- Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, quality assurance, operations, and business stakeholders to align the Software Factory roadmap with organizational objectives.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather requirements and drive platform adoption.
- Create Documentation & Knowledge Management: Develop comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and training materials for the Software Factory platform.
- Establish knowledge repositories and conduct regular training sessions to ensure all developers can effectively leverage the platform.
- Evaluate & Innovate: Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies in the DevOps and developer experience landscape.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Additional Information
8+ years of hands-on software development and platform engineering experience with a strong software architecture foundation
