Mumbai

1–3 years of experience

Location: Versova, Mumbai

Full-time, in-office role.

Build the systems and intelligence that power the live entertainment experience.

Company: thumpN

thumpN is an AI-native discovery and ticketing platform that unifies discovery, ticketing, and on-ground tools for fans, artists, venues, and promoters.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

thumpN is where the show begins.

At thumpN, we build products that make discovering and experiencing live entertainment effortless. Behind every event discovered, ticket purchased, and attendee checked into a venue is a backend system that needs to be fast, reliable, and intelligent.

As we grow into new cities and categories, we need a backend developer who can help build the infrastructure and services that power these experiences—and increasingly, the AI systems that sit on top of them.

This role is for someone who enjoys understanding how systems work, building reliable APIs and services, working with data, and experimenting with new ways of using AI to solve problems. You will work closely with Product, Frontend, and Engineering to build the systems behind discovery, ticketing, payments, events, and on-ground experiences.

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO

Backend Development

- Build and ship backend services and APIs using Go (Golang).

- Design and implement clean, reliable, and maintainable APIs that power thumpN's web and mobile experiences.

- Work with frontend engineers to understand product requirements and build the services needed to support them.

- Write well-structured code with appropriate error handling, validation, logging, and testing.

- Debug issues across services and understand how different parts of the backend interact.

Data & Databases

- Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases to build and maintain data-driven features.

- Write and optimise SQL queries and understand relational data modelling.

- Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.

- Understand indexing, transactions, caching, data consistency, and basic database performance optimisation.

- Help design schemas and data models that can evolve as the product grows.

APIs, Integrations & Infrastructure

- Build and integrate REST APIs and third-party services.

- Work with services such as payments, authentication, notifications, maps, analytics, and other external APIs.

- Understand asynchronous processing, queues, background jobs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.

- Work with Git and modern software development workflows.

- Gain exposure to cloud infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, logging, and CI/CD.

AI & Agentic Workflows

- Help build the next generation of AI-native experiences at thumpN.

- Work with LLMs, AI APIs, agents, tools, function calling, structured outputs, and retrieval-based systems.

- Build and integrate agentic workflows where AI can reason through tasks, use tools, retrieve information,

and take actions.

- Experiment with AI orchestration frameworks and patterns for building reliable AI workflows.

- Work with embeddings, vector databases, RAG, and other techniques for making AI systems useful with real product data.

- Understand how to design AI workflows with appropriate guardrails, validation, observability, and human intervention where required.

- Explore natural-language programming and AI-assisted development—using natural language to describe intent, generate code, query systems, automate workflows, and build product capabilities.

- Stay curious about rapidly evolving AI tooling and identify practical opportunities to use it within thumpN's products and internal systems.

Product & Engineering

- Work closely with Product and Frontend engineers to understand the problem behind each feature.

- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.

- Break larger problems into smaller, shippable pieces.

- Think about reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability—not just whether a feature works.

- Take ownership of backend features from development through release and iteration.

WHAT YOU BRING

Curiosity, solid fundamentals, and the drive to build

Required

- 1–3 years of experience building backend services or applications.

- Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on experience with Go (Golang).

- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication, and common backend patterns.

- Experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

- Understanding of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar.

- Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and error handling.

- Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.

- Ability to debug issues, read existing code, and understand how different services interact.

- Strong problem-solving skills and an ownership mindset.

- Curiosity about AI, LLMs, and agentic systems, with an interest in learning how they can be used to build real products.

Preferred

- Experience building production services using Go.

- Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, transactions, and query optimisation.

- Experience with NoSQL databases and caching systems such as MongoDB or Redis.

- Familiarity with message queues, event-driven architecture, background jobs, or asynchronous processing.

- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, or cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

- Familiarity with observability tools,

structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.

- Experience working with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar.

- Experience with function calling, tool use, structured outputs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, or AI agents.

- Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks or agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar.

- Understanding of prompt engineering, context management, evaluation, and AI workflow design.

- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools and natural-language-driven development workflows.

- Experience building consumer-facing products, marketplaces, e-commerce, ticketing, or high-traffic applications.

- Passion for live entertainment, consumer technology, AI, and building systems that people actually use.

NON-NEGOTIABLES

How we know this is the right fit

- You care about the product, not just the backend.

You want to understand what you're building, who is using it, and why it matters. You don't see an API as just an endpoint—you understand the experience and product flow it enables.

- You have strong engineering fundamentals.

You care about clean code, good abstractions, data modelling, error handling, testing, performance, and maintainability. You don't reach for complexity when a simple solution will work.

- You are curious about AI.

You don't need to be an AI researcher. But you should be genuinely interested in how LLMs, agents, tools, and natural-language interfaces are changing how software is built and how products work.

- You think in systems.

You understand that a backend feature doesn't exist in isolation. You think about APIs, databases, queues, caching, external services, failure states, observability, and what happens when things don't go according to plan.

- You take ownership.

When something breaks, you don't just point to where the problem might be. You investigate it, understand the root cause, fix it, and think about how to prevent it from happening again.

- You are comfortable learning.

You won't know everything when you join. That's expected. What matters is that you can read documentation, experiment, ask good questions, and figure things out. Backend and AI technologies are evolving quickly, and we expect you to evolve with them.

- You communicate clearly and work well with others.

Backend engineering doesn't happen in isolation. You will work closely with Product, Frontend, and other engineers. You ask when something isn't clear, explain your thinking, and raise problems before they become bigger problems.

- You want to build things people actually use.

The goal isn't to build the most sophisticated architecture or use the newest AI framework. The goal is to build reliable systems and intelligent experiences that help people discover events, buy tickets, and have a better experience with live entertainment.
