You will play a key role in modernising legacy reporting environments, including assessing and migrating suitable SSRS reports to Power BI, while ensuring reporting accuracy, security, performance, and business continuity.You will work closely with business stakeholders, data and engineering teams, and support functions to deliver reliable and scalable analytics solutions.What You’ll DoDesign, build, test, deploy, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, apps, paginated reports, and reusable semantic models.Assess existing SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, document business logic and dependencies, and migrate suitable reports to Power BI while preserving validated business outcomes.Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SSRS reports during the transition period, including datasets, parameters, expressions, subscriptions, schedules, rendering, and data-source connectivity.Translate business outcomes and reporting requirements into intuitive visual experiences, governed KPIs, and performant data models.Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated tables, calculation groups where appropriate, and Power Query transformations using sound modeling practices.Build and optimize star schemas, composite models, incremental refresh strategies, aggregations, and DirectQuery or Import solutions based on workload needs.Integrate Power BI with Azure SQL, SQL Server, Databricks, Data Lake, Business Central, Excel, APIs, and other enterprise data sources.Own production support for Power BI solutions, including refresh failures, gateway and credential issues, semantic model errors, access problems, incorrect figures, rendering defects, and performance degradation.Investigate issues end to end across source, pipeline, database, semantic model, and presentation layers; document evidence, root cause, corrective action, validation, and residual follow-up.Handle incidents and service requests through the Service Desk and JIRA processes, maintain clear status updates, work within priority and SLA expectations, and escalate with complete diagnostic evidence.Validate business data using reconciliation checks, control totals, row counts, freshness checks, exception analysis,
and stakeholder confirmation before closure or release.Implement and administer row-level security, object-level security where applicable, workspace access, app audiences, subscriptions, gateways, and least-privilege controls.Monitor dataset refreshes, capacities, gateways, usage, performance, and failure trends; create alerts, operational dashboards, and proactive remediation steps.Tune DAX, Power Query, visual interactions, source queries, model relationships, and refresh design to improve user experience and capacity efficiency.Participate in release planning, peer reviews, deployment validation, rollback readiness, UAT support, production cutovers, and post-release stabilization.Use Git and Azure DevOps or equivalent practices for version control, CI/CD, deployment pipelines, traceability, and controlled change.Create SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, support checklists, and reusable solutions that enable safe shift-left from engineering to specialist and service-desk support.Mentor junior developers, review technical designs and code, and promote Power BI, SQL, security, documentation, and support best practices.What Makes You Stand OutStrong hands-on expertise in Power BI Desktop and Service, semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query, visualization design, and deployment.Strong working knowledge of SSRS, including report design, shared and embedded datasets, parameters, expressions, drill-through, subscriptions, scheduling, security, rendering, deployment, and troubleshooting.Experience assessing legacy SSRS estates and migrating reports to Power BI through requirements validation, report rationalization, business-logic mapping, semantic-model design, reconciliation, stakeholder testing, and controlled cutover.Ability to balance Power BI and SSRS development with disciplined operational support and end-to-end ownership of production outcomes.Hands-on operational support experience covering incidents and service requests, SLA-aware triage, business-impact assessment, clear stakeholder updates, evidence-based escalation, restoration validation, and complete resolution documentation.Experience diagnosing production issues across report refreshes, SSRS subscriptions, gateways, credentials, data sources, semantic models, access, performance, incorrect figures, and rendering failures.Ability to perform root-cause analysis, manage recurring problems, support controlled production changes, maintain rollback readiness, and convert repeatable fixes into SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.Operational mindset focused on data freshness, reconciliation, first-response and resolution performance, SLA attainment, reopen reduction, backlog health, repeat-incident prevention, and knowledge reuse.Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, views, stored procedures, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.Experience diagnosing Power BI refresh, gateway, credentials, capacity, security, rendering,
and data-quality issues.Practical understanding of data lineage across ERP or source systems, Azure SQL or Databricks, semantic models, and reports.Experience with enterprise-scale model governance, reusable datasets, certified content, naming standards, documentation, and controlled KPI definitions.Knowledge of Power BI security, tenant and workspace concepts, RLS, app distribution, lifecycle management, and least-privilege access.Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, Power BI deployment pipelines, automated checks, and structured release management.Familiarity with Business Central data and finance, sales, purchasing, manufacturing, inventory, or supply-chain reporting is highly valuable.Strong incident communication, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and the ability to explain complex issues in business language.Demonstrated ability to coach others, conduct reviews, create support documentation, and improve team delivery quality.What You NeedBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.6+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data visualization, with substantial hands-on Power BI development experience.Proven delivery of production Power BI solutions using DAX, Power Query, semantic models, dashboards, reports, apps, and paginated reporting.Practical SSRS development and support experience, with exposure to migrating SSRS reports to Power BI strongly preferred.Strong SQL Server or Azure SQL experience and a solid understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT, and data-quality controls.Hands-on experience supporting business-critical reports and resolving incidents across refresh, access, performance, and data correctness.Experience working with Azure data services and cloud analytics platforms.
