Designation: Site Supervisor – Mooring Operations

Job Location: Kamarajar Port, Chennai

Salary: ₹28,000 – ₹30,000 per month

Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 2–5 years preferred in marine, port, shipyard, industrial, or mechanical operations

Job Purpose

To supervise and coordinate the mooring team at the site, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution of mooring operations while maintaining compliance with safety procedures and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and manage the mooring team during vessel berthing, unberthing, and shifting operations.

- Coordinate with port authorities, vessel crew, marine personnel, and internal teams for smooth mooring activities.

- Ensure proper handling, positioning, securing, and maintenance of mooring ropes, wires, shackles, bollards, winches, and related equipment.

- Monitor the team during operations and ensure all activities are carried out as per approved SOPs and safety procedures.

- Conduct pre-operation safety briefings/toolbox talks and ensure team members use required PPE.

- Allocate duties to team members and monitor manpower deployment according to operational requirements.

- Inspect mooring equipment and immediately report damaged, worn-out, or unsafe equipment.

- Ensure compliance with port safety rules, marine safety standards, and company policies.

- Coordinate emergency response in case of rope failure, equipment malfunction, adverse weather, or other operational hazards.

- Maintain daily records, operation reports,



manpower attendance, equipment inspection records, and incident reports.

- Train and guide mooring team members on safe working practices and proper equipment handling.

- Identify operational risks and take immediate corrective action to prevent accidents and equipment damage.

- Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of the mooring work area.

- Report operational issues, safety concerns, incidents, and manpower requirements to the management.

- Support continuous improvement in mooring operations, safety, productivity, and team performance.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of mooring and marine/port operations.

- Good understanding of mechanical equipment and basic maintenance practices.

- Robust team-handling and supervisory skills.

- Good communication and coordination skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and in outdoor/port conditions.

- Strong awareness of occupational health and safety requirements.

- Ability to work in shifts, including weekends/holidays as per operational requirements.

- Basic knowledge of MS Office and daily reporting will be an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.

- Experience in port, marine, shipyard, offshore, heavy engineering, or industrial operations preferred.

- Candidates with hands-on experience in mooring operations and manpower supervision will be given preference.

- Physically fit and capable of working in a marine/port environment.

Compensation

₹28,000 – ₹30,000 per month, depending on experience and suitability.
