Job Purpose:
Internships at Sony Research India (SRI) are aimed at offering students with an opportunity to industry exposure and a production level project experience. The primary responsibility in this role will be to positively contribute to the growth and development of cutting-edge technologies at SRI. During the internship, you will Create, edit, and proofread subtitles for entertainment content, including translating and adapting dialogue while preserving the meaning, context, tone, emotion, and cultural nuances of the original content. Ensure subtitles are natural, grammatically correct, accurate, and easy to read, while maintaining accurate synchronization with dialogue and on-screen content. Follow subtitle formatting, timing, readability, and quality guidelines, review subtitles for translation accuracy, spelling, grammar, timing, and formatting, and work closely with content and production teams to maintain consistent subtitle quality across projects.

Duration of the internship:
The paid internship will be for 6 months ideally starting from September second week of 2026.
The working hours are from 9:00 IST to 18:00 IST (Monday to Friday) fulltime.

Essential Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Languages, Literature, Media, Journalism, or a related field.

Skills required:
Robust proficiency in one or more South Indian languages, such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, etc.
Strong English comprehension.
Excellent in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Ability to accurately convey the meaning, tone, and context of dialogue.
Ability to work with tight deadlines and handle large volumes of content.

Good to have Skills:
Experience subtitling movies, web series, television shows, or OTT content.
Experience with professional subtitling tools.
Knowledge of multiple South Indian languages.
Familiarity with subtitle quality standards and localization practices.
