Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and govern a multi-layered E&E; team spanning Chargers, Wiring Harnesses, System Integration, Homologation, Diagnostics, and RCA.
- Resource allocation and workforce tracking across sub-teams (managing dedicated engineers, senior engineers, and assistant managers).
- Identify competency gaps and recruit specialized talent to fill open requirements (e.g., Diagnostic and RCA roles).
2. E&E; System Integration & Architecture
- Oversee the end-to-end integration of Electrical & Electronic subsystems into heavy commercial electric vehicles.
- Validate wiring harness designs, routing, and sub-component installations to prevent interference and routing failures.
- Manage charging system integration (AC/DC fast chargers) ensuring seamless communication between the charging station and the vehicle's Battery Management System (BMS).
3. Field Issues, Troubleshooting & RCA
- Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for complex, early-life vehicle failures reported from the field.
- Drive systematic Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for electrical, electronic, and software bugs using advanced engineering methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone analysis).
- Deploy automotive diagnostic tools and protocols to isolate faults, reading and analyzing error logs from ECUs, BMS, and motor controllers.
4. Compliance, Homologation & Release
- Oversee the testing and validation processes required for full vehicle homologation and certification.
- Ensure all vehicle electrical subsystems comply with regional regulations, high-voltage safety protocols, and standard automotive codes.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Technical Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of EV architecture, power electronics, high-voltage vehicle safety, wiring harness layouts, and thermal management systems.
- Diagnostics & Analysis: Hands-on experience with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, J1939, LIN) and diagnostic tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, or equivalent).
- Problem-Solving Frameworks: Demonstrated expertise in formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Leadership Style: Cooperative yet authoritative technical leader capable of interfacing effectively with cross-functional manufacturing, quality, and service teams.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: 10–15+ years of core engineering experience in automotive E&E; domains, with a significant background in Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCVs), Off-Highway Trucks, or Electric Vehicles. Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial or lead engineering role.
