Job Summary
Your role: Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world's MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. In this role, you'll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you'll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe's core data.
Responsibilities
- Maintain performance: Prevent decay and find efficiencies. Monitor the architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code to maintain and enhance mainframe performance.
- Debug and Test: Find and fix. Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions to keep mission-critical applications running.
- Develop for the Future: Bridge the gap. As an instrumental player in modernization, you'll extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services.
Requirements
Required skills and experience
- Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects.
- Excellent coding skills and solid development experience (Java, Python, .Net etc.) with debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Software development methodologies, with demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software.
- Experienced in relational and NoSQL databases, data mapping, XML/JSON, REST-based web services.
- Knowledge of architecture design - Microservices architecture, containers (Docker & k8s), messaging queues.
- Deep understanding of OOP and design patterns.
Preferred skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certification in one or more of the hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, and Google GCP) - otherwise, you can obtain certifications with Kyndryl.
- Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices.
