We are looking for enthusiastic and detail-oriented fresh graduates to join our Medical Coding team as Trainee HCC Medical Coders. The selected candidates will undergo training in HCC (Hierarchical Condition Category) coding and will be responsible for reviewing medical records and accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes as per coding and risk adjustment guidelines.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient medical records and clinical documentation.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes based on the documentation provided.
- Understand and identify diagnoses that map to HCC categories for risk adjustment.
- Apply coding guidelines and company/client-specific requirements.
- Ensure coding accuracy, quality, and productivity as per organizational standards.
- Identify discrepancies or incomplete documentation and escalate them to the appropriate team.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient health information and adhere to data privacy requirements.
- Participate in training, assessments, quality feedback, and continuous learning programs.
- Meet assigned productivity and quality targets after successful completion of training.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Life Science / Paramedical / Healthcare-related graduates preferred.
- Certification: CPC / CCS / CRC or equivalent medical coding certification may be preferred, depending on the hiring requirement.
- Strong knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology, and ICD-10-CM.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Candidates should be flexible to work in rotational or night shifts, if required.
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of Medical Coding and US Healthcare.
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
- Understanding of HCC and Risk Adjustment concepts will be an added advantage.
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team setting.
