Key Responsibilities:
1. PSM System Development & Implementation:
Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the corporate PSM framework, aligning it
with OSHA PSM, EPA, ISO 45001 and industry best practices.
Establish standardized policies, procedures, and guidelines for hazard identification, risk
assessment, and mitigation.
Integrate PSM principles with overall EHS and quality management systems.
2. Hazard Identification & Risk Management:
Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities, including HAZOP, FMEA, What-If, and
LOPA studies across manufacturing sites.
Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes to evaluate and mitigate risks
associated with process modifications.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for chemical processes, storage, handling, and
utilities.
Identify potential catastrophic hazards and implement effective control measures.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure strict compliance with local, national, and international PSM regulations and
standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Indian Factories Act, CPCB guidelines).
Prepare for and provide support during regulatory inspections and audits.
Track and report compliance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to
process safety.
4. Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis:
Lead investigations of process safety incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.
Apply established methodologies such as RCA, and 5-Whys to determine root causes.
Develop and monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive action plans across
all sites.
5. Training, Awareness & Culture:
Design and implement corporate-level PSM training programs for site operations,
engineering, and management teams.
Promote a strong process safety culture, encouraging proactive hazard identification and
adherence to safe work practices.
Conduct PSM audits, workshops,
and drills to reinforce awareness and preparedness.
6. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
Develop and maintain process safety performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting
mechanisms.
Benchmark corporate PSM practices against global best practices and recommend
strategic improvements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across sites to reduce incident rates,
environmental releases, and near misses.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and R&D; teams to
integrate PSM into design, scale-up, and operational processes.
Support engineering teams in implementing inherently safer designs for processes,
storage, and utilities.
Facilitate cross-site sharing of lessons learned, best practices, and process safety
innovations.

8. Documentation & Reporting:
Ensure thorough documentation of all PSM processes, PHAs, MOCs, SOPs, incident
investigations, and safety audits.
Prepare corporate-level process safety reports for senior management, regulators, and
internal stakeholders.
9. Key Competencies:
Strong knowledge of chemical and pharmaceutical processes.
Expertise in PSM frameworks, hazard analysis techniques, and risk assessment tools.
Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to drive a solid safety culture and influence cross-functional teams effectively.
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and safety management systems software.
10. Qualifications:
Bachelors/Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related
field.
Professional certification in PSM, Risk Management, or Safety (preferred: CFPS,
NEBOSH, or equivalent).
8–12 years of experience in chemical / pharmaceutical manufacturing with significant
exposure to process safety management, hazard analysis, and regulatory compliance.
