Role & responsibilities :

Tooling Procurement & Sourcing

- Identify, evaluate, and develop tooling suppliers for plastic injection molds and related manufacturing tools.
- Manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) activities, cost comparison, supplier negotiation, and finalization of tooling orders.
- Ensure procurement of molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and auxiliary tooling at optimum cost, quality, and delivery terms.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments and audits for tooling vendors.

New Project Tool Development

- Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Program Management, and Tool Makers for new tool development activities.
- Monitor tool manufacturing progress and ensure on-time tool completion as per project milestones.
- Participate in Technical Reviews, Tool Design Reviews, Tool Trials, and Validation activities.
- Track APQP requirements related to tooling development.

Cost Management

- Negotiate tooling costs, commercial terms, and payment milestones with suppliers.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and alternate supplier development.




- Prepare tooling investment proposals and cost-benefit analyses.

Supplier Management

- Develop and maintain robust relationships with tool makers and plastic commodity suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Development (QCDD) parameters.
- Resolve commercial and technical issues with suppliers to avoid project delays.

Tool Maintenance & Asset Management

- Maintain tooling inventory and records, including tool ownership and asset tracking.
- Coordinate with suppliers and production teams for tool modifications, repairs, refurbishment, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper documentation of tool transfers, validation reports, and tooling history.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure tooling suppliers comply with automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Support PPAP, trial runs, mold validation, and production readiness activities.
- Ensure adherence to company procurement policies and customer requirements.
