Embedded Software Engineer BCM

Location: Chennai

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our Electrical/Electronic Technical team. The role involves developing, integrating, testing, and debugging embedded software for Body Control Module (BCM) and vehicle body networks.

The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience in embedded C/C++, automotive microcontrollers, vehicle communication protocols, RTOS/AUTOSAR, and vehicle-level debugging.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop embedded software modules for BCM ECUs supporting features such as:
- Central locking
- Lighting systems
- Wipers
- Power windows
- Immobilization
- Power management and body functions
- Develop and integrate software drivers for CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, and GPIO peripherals.
- Develop and integrate software for gateway and body network communication, including signal management, ECU communication, and sleep/wake-up functionality.
- Perform vehicle software integration and testing across multiple ECUs and software modules.
- Develop and validate On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) functionality, including UDS-based diagnostics and DTC management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bench-level and vehicle-level software issues.
- Perform CAN/LIN data capture and analysis using CANoe/CANalyzer.
- Conduct unit testing and integration testing and support software verification activities.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including software specifications, API documentation, test reports,



and design documents.
- Follow established SDLC processes and automotive software development practices.

Required Technical Skills

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Embedded Systems / Automotive Embedded Software.
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++; Python knowledge is an added advantage.
- Experience with automotive microcontrollers, preferably NXP, STMicroelectronics, or Infineon.
- Good understanding of BCM architecture and design.
- Hands-on experience with CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, and GPIO.
- Knowledge of RTOS and AUTOSAR architecture.
- Experience in debugging embedded software at bench and vehicle level.
- Hands-on experience with CANoe/CANalyzer and CAN/LIN data analysis.
- Knowledge of SDLC, software integration, and testing methodologies.
- Experience with Unit Testing and Integration Testing is preferred.
- Knowledge of UDS diagnostics and DTC development/testing will be an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good understanding of automotive communication and body electronics.
- Ability to work closely with hardware, system, testing, and vehicle integration teams.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience working in an automotive OEM, Tier-1, or embedded product development environment is preferred.
