Job Title: API Test Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled API Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, security, and performance of our APIs and backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in API testing, automation, microservices architecture, and test frameworks, with a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive API test cases and test scripts.
- Validate RESTful and SOAP web services for functionality, reliability, and performance.
- Automate API testing using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Validate request/response payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and business logic.
- Create and maintain test data and test environments.
- Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA teams to understand requirements and define testing strategies.
- Analyze API logs, troubleshoot issues, and provide detailed test reports.
- Integrate API test automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Support performance and security testing initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2- 3 years of experience in API testing and software quality assurance.




- Strong understanding of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and HTTP protocols.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as:
- Postman
- Swagger/OpenAPI
- Rest Assured
- SoapUI
- Insomnia

- Experience in API automation using Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of authentication mechanisms:

- OAuth 2.0
- JWT
- API Keys
- Basic Authentication

- Experience with database validation using SQL.
- Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Skills

- Experience testing microservices-based architectures.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Experience with performance testing tools:
- JMeter
- LoadRunner
- k6

- Understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with contract testing tools like Pact.
