Job Purpose
• Position Title: Mobile Platform Architect
• Experience Level: 12 – 18 Years
• Core Mission: Define, govern, and scale the mobile application platform across native Android, native iOS, and hybrid Angular-based frontend applications for a high-concurrency Fintech Super App handling 40+ business lines, high-volume transactions, and a large user base. This leader will ensure product reliability, security, performance, and engineering consistency across all mobile touchpoints while enabling multiple product teams to build and ship quickly without compromising platform stability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
1. Multi-Platform Mobile Architecture & Governance
• Platform Strategy: Define and evolve the end-to-end mobile platform strategy spanning native Android, native iOS, and Angular-based hybrid/mobile web experiences.
• Shared Architecture Shell: Design a secure, scalable, and modular application shell that allows multiple product teams (Loans, Payments, Cards, Investments, etc.) to build independently while maintaining standard platform guardrails.
• SDK Stewardship: Create and manage shared SDKs and platform libraries for common capabilities such as authentication, network orchestration, UI foundations, analytics, telemetry, session management, and feature flagging.
• Interface Contracts: Establish robust module boundaries, API contracts, and dependency rules to prevent business logic from creating reliability issues, performance regressions, memory leaks, or ANR/crash incidents.
• Architecture Governance: Define coding standards, design review patterns, release checklist criteria, and technical quality gates across all mobile platform teams.
2. Android, iOS & Hybrid Engineering Leadership
• Android Architecture: Lead architecture for native Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt/Dagger, Room, and MVVM/MVI based patterns.
• iOS Architecture: Lead architecture for native iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, async/await, actors, dependency injection, and modular clean architecture patterns.
• Hybrid Frontend Architecture: Govern Angular-based frontend and PWA/mobile-web implementation patterns that integrate with native app shells, secure APIs, and customer journeys seamlessly.
• Cross-Platform Consistency: Ensure a consistent user and developer experience across Android, iOS, and hybrid app surfaces while respecting platform-specific constraints and optimization needs.
• Platform Enablement: Enable product squads with secure, reusable design patterns, templates, and technology standards to accelerate delivery without creating technical debt.
3. High-Concurrency, Performance & Reliability Engineering
• State & Concurrency Management: Enforce predictable state flows and concurrency best practices using Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, Swift Concurrency,
and actor-based patterns to reduce race conditions and data inconsistencies.
• Network Performance Optimization: Design resilient network layers using OkHttp, Retrofit, URLSession, retry policies, payload optimization, prioritization, and adaptive handling for unstable mobile connectivity.
• Offline & Sync Architecture: Build robust offline-first patterns with local persistence, sync reconciliation, and conflict resolution using Room/SQLite and Core Data/SwiftData.
• Performance Engineering: Drive improvements in startup time, memory efficiency, CPU utilization, UI smoothness, background processing, and crash-free user experience across platforms.|• Reliability Engineering: Set technical guardrails to minimize ANRs, app hangs, rendering jank, memory leaks, and application instability during peak usage periods.
4. Security, Compliance & Anti-Fraud Architecture
• Threat Mitigation: Design runtime protections for rooted/jailbroken devices, emulators, tampering attempts, reverse engineering risks, and malicious execution environments.
• Device Binding & Identity: Establish strong device binding, authentication, and fraud detection patterns using platform-native secure identities and cryptographic validation.
• Data Hardening: Govern encryption at rest and in transit, certificate pinning, payload obfuscation, secure storage, and compliance controls for sensitive financial transactions.
• Secure Platform Controls: Ensure authentication, session security, token handling, and transaction integrity are built into the architecture with the highest security standards expected in fintech products.
5. Telemetry, Observability & Performance Analytics
• Application Telemetry: Define end-to-end mobile telemetry to monitor crash rates, user journeys, funnel drop-offs, API health, network latency, and feature adoption.
• Observability Stack: Integrate real-time dashboards, log pipelines, and anomaly detection systems for Android, iOS, and hybrid frontend components.
• Profiling & Optimization: Use profiling tools such as Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto, Systrace, Xcode Instruments, and MetricKit to identify root causes and optimize quality.
• App Size & Delivery Efficiency: Manage application distribution size, binary overhead, and runtime overhead to keep the app efficient, maintainable, and release-friendly.
6. Leadership, Coaching & Delivery Excellence
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with product managers, design, security, QA, DevOps,
and engineering teams to align mobile platform strategy with business outcomes.
• Mentorship: Coach engineering teams on mobile architecture, secure coding, clean design patterns, and scalable delivery practices.
• Architecture Review & Delivery Governance: Lead technical design reviews, architecture decision records, and release quality evaluations.
• Talent Development: Contribute to hiring, capability building, and upskilling initiatives for mobile engineering teams.
• Escalation & Resolution: Act as a technical escalation partner for critical mobile platform issues, production incidents, and customer-impacting problems.
Critical Technical Expertise
• Languages: Advanced-level expertise in Kotlin, Swift, TypeScript, and Angular, with a strong foundation in modern mobile and frontend engineering.
• Android Engineering: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt/Dagger, Room, Navigation, WorkManager, lifecycle management, and app architecture patterns.
• iOS Engineering: Swift, SwiftUI, async/await, actors, mobile lifecycle, background tasks, Core Data/SwiftData, and secure storage patterns.|• Hybrid Web Frontend: Angular-based application architecture, performance optimization, service integration, progressive web app patterns, and secure mobile web interactions.
• Architecture Patterns: MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modularization, dependency inversion, interface-based contracts, and platform SDK design.
• Security: Android Keystore, iOS Keychain/Secure Enclave, App Attest, DeviceCheck, SQLCipher, certificate pinning, anti-tamper patterns, and secure session management.
• Network & Data: OkHttp, Retrofit, URLSession, API orchestration, offline sync, local database patterns, and real-time data handling.
• Observability & Performance: Telemetry pipelines, crash analytics, app profiling, startup optimization, memory analysis, and release health monitoring.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Experience Tier: 12 – 18 Years of progressive software engineering excellence, with a minimum of 5 years serving as a dedicated Mobile Architect or Platform Architect leading large-scale consumer/mobile application deployments.
• Scale Validation: Demonstrated success in leading and scaling high-traffic, high-reliability native and hybrid mobile platforms serving large consumer or fintech audiences.
• Domain Exposure: Significant engineering experience in Fintech, Banking, Digital Payments, Wallets, or large-scale Digital Commerce Platforms.
• Leadership: Experience managing architecture across multiple product teams and collaborating with senior engineering stakeholders in a product-led organization.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
