Specialization: Structural & Multifamily Steel Construction (Main Frames & Podium Platforms Only)
Role Summary
The Senior Tekla Modeler creates highly accurate, fabrication-ready 3D models for heavy structural steel frames, multi-story columns, beams, floor bracing, and mid-rise multifamily podium systems.
This role focuses strictly on primary structural steel components and does not include miscellaneous steel (stairs, rails, or site metals). All work must align with USA building codes, AISC standards, and specific wood/cold-formed steel framing integration requirements common in multifamily podium projects.
Core Responsibilities
• Build Structural Models: Create comprehensive, clash-free 3D models of primary structural steel frames, columns, girders, beams, and bracing using Tekla Structures.
• Coordinate Podium Interfaces: Model critical interface details where the structural steel frame connects to wood framing, post-tensioned concrete slabs, or cold-formed steel (CFS) assemblies.
• Resolve RFIs:



Identify missing architectural or structural engineering information early and draft clear Request for Information (RFI) documents.
• Generate Outputs: Export high-quality structural shop drawings, erection drawings, CNC data (.NC1 files), material lists, and BIM coordinate files for the field.
• Manage Revisions: Rapidly incorporate structural engineering revisions typical of rapid-paced multifamily design-build updates.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of primary structural steel detailing and modeling experience explicitly within the USA commercial and multifamily sectors.
• Software: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Tekla Structures (latest versions) is mandatory.
• Exclusion Competency: Proven track record of managing major structural frames without relying on miscellaneous detailing workflows.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of AISC, NISD, OSHA, and IBC (International Building Code) criteria regarding multi-story structures.
