About Ark Abroad

Ark Abroad helps international students and skilled migrants in Australia land professional roles and build careers that match their actual potential.

We work with candidates across business, technology, engineering, finance, analytics, marketing and other corporate functions.

We are looking for a Career Coach who can take ownership of the learner journey — from understanding their career goals to improving their positioning, job-search strategy, networking, interviews and overall execution.

This is not a role for someone who simply conducts calls and gives generic motivation.

We want someone who can listen, diagnose, teach, challenge and improve.

What You’ll Do

- Conduct structured 1:1 career coaching sessions with learners.
- Understand each learner’s background, target roles, strengths, weaknesses and career goals.
- Help learners build a explicit and realistic job-search strategy.
- Review and guide improvements to resumes, LinkedIn profiles, cover letters and overall professional positioning.
- Coach learners on networking, recruiter outreach, hiring-manager outreach and referral strategies.
- Help learners prepare for behavioural, technical and case-based interviews.
- Identify why a learner is not getting interviews or progressing through hiring processes and recommend specific changes.
- Keep learners accountable for executing agreed actions between sessions.
- Document what the learner achieved or learned from every coaching session.
- Track learner progress and escalate cases where additional intervention is required.
- Work closely with the wider coaching, resume and operations teams.
- Continuously improve your coaching based on call reviews, learner outcomes and feedback.

What We’re Looking For

1. You Are Highly Coachable

This is extremely important.

We regularly review coaching calls and give detailed feedback.

We want someone who:

- Listens carefully to feedback without becoming defensive.
- Implements feedback quickly.
- Does not repeat the same mistake after being coached on it multiple times.
- Actively asks how they can improve.
- Is comfortable having their work reviewed.




- Understands that being good today does not mean there is nothing left to learn.

If receiving direct feedback makes you uncomfortable, this probably isn't the right environment.

2. You Actually Understand Careers & Recruitment

You should have a strong understanding of areas such as:

- Resume positioning
- LinkedIn optimisation
- Job-search strategy
- Networking
- Recruiter and hiring-manager outreach
- Interview preparation
- Behavioural interviews
- Corporate recruitment processes
- Candidate positioning and differentiation
- Australian professional workplace expectations

Experience working with international students, migrants or the Australian employment market is highly preferred.

3. You Know How to Coach — Not Just Talk

A good coaching call should create movement.

You should be able to listen to a learner, understand the real problem and leave them with a clear next action.

We value coaches who ask strong questions, challenge weak thinking and explain concepts clearly rather than dominating the conversation.

4. You Take Ownership

We don't want someone whose responsibility ends when the Zoom call ends.

If a learner is stuck, you should want to understand why.

If something isn't working, you should raise it.

If you notice a pattern across multiple learners, you should communicate it to the team.

We value people who care about outcomes rather than simply completing assigned tasks.

You’ll Probably Be Great at This If

- You have worked as a career coach, recruiter, talent acquisition specialist, employability advisor or similar.
- You understand how corporate hiring works.
- You communicate confidently and professionally in English.
- You are naturally curious about different industries and roles.




- You enjoy teaching and explaining things.
- You are organised and comfortable maintaining learner notes and trackers.
- You can build rapport while still holding people accountable.
- You genuinely enjoy seeing someone improve because of your coaching.

You Probably Won’t Enjoy This Role If

- You dislike receiving detailed feedback.
- You become defensive when your calls or work are reviewed.
- You prefer following a script instead of thinking about the learner in front of you.
- You give generic advice such as “apply more,” “network more” or “improve your resume” without diagnosing the actual problem.
- You need constant supervision to complete basic responsibilities.
- You treat coaching calls as meetings to attend rather than outcomes to create.
