JOB DESCRIPTION – PROJECT ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER

Position: Project Engineer / Project Manager – Biotech & Process Equipment (Vessels)

About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our reputed client in the Biotech & Process Equipment industry for an experienced Project Engineer / Project Manager to manage projects involving process equipment, particularly process vessels, from project initiation and engineering through fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning and final client handover.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in process equipment / vessel projects, preferably for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, sterile or life sciences industries, with strong capabilities in project coordination, client handling and end-to-end project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end responsibility for assigned Biotech & Process Equipment projects, particularly vessel projects, from project kick-off to final handover.
- Understand client requirements, technical specifications, scope of supply, project schedules and contractual deliverables.
- Coordinate with Design/Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality and Site teams for smooth project execution.
- Review and coordinate engineering deliverables including GA drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs;, equipment specifications and other technical documents.
- Coordinate with clients for technical clarifications, drawing approvals, inspections, documentation and project updates.
- Prepare and monitor project schedules, milestones and execution plans.
- Track procurement, material availability, fabrication, inspection, testing and delivery activities.
- Coordinate FAT, inspection and testing as per project and client requirements.
- Coordinate installation, site activities, commissioning and related project activities.
- Ensure timely completion of project documentation and final handover to the client.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, technical issues and execution risks.
- Coordinate corrective actions with relevant internal and external teams.
- Conduct project review meetings and prepare MOMs, progress reports and project trackers.
- Coordinate with clients and site teams during installation, commissioning and final handover.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable quality, safety, GMP and client requirements.
Technical Exposure
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- Biotech / Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences process equipment
- Stainless-steel process vessels and tanks
- Process / storage / mixing vessels
- Sterile and hygienic process equipment
- Agitated vessels and associated equipment
- CIP / SIP systems and process requirements
- Process piping and equipment integration
- GMP / hygienic design requirements
- ASME and other applicable equipment standards
- FAT / SAT / installation / commissioning
- Equipment documentation and client handover
Qualification
Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience & Skills
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in project engineering, project execution or project management.
- Experience in process equipment, vessels, tanks or custom-engineered equipment projects.
- Experience with biotech, pharmaceutical, sterile or life sciences projects will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of project execution from engineering/design through fabrication, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, P&IDs; and technical specifications.
- Solid project planning, coordination and documentation skills.
- Good client-handling and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to client/project sites as required.
Key Deliverable
The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that assigned Biotech & Process Equipment projects, particularly vessel projects, are executed and delivered safely, on time, within the agreed scope, budget and quality requirements—from engineering and fabrication through commissioning and final client handover.
