Role & responsibilities
Own the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) end to end across customer, product/service, geographic, delivery-channel, and transaction risk; refresh on a defined cadence and on trigger events.
Own transaction monitoring: design, calibrate, and tune rules and thresholds; oversee alert quality and disposition; and govern review and approval/rejection of suspicious transactions against regulatory and internal policy.
Own the merchant/customer onboarding risk framework (KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, UBO, sanctions/PEP screening); set risk-based onboarding criteria and re-KYC/re-rating triggers, and adjudicate high-risk cases.
Develop internal risk policies; define and monitor risk appetite, KRIs, and thresholds; and produce risk dashboards and reports for senior management, the MLRO/Principal Officer, and the Board.
Lead, mentor, and build the risk team into a high-performing second line, and drive risk and compliance training and awareness across the organisation.
Manage operational, fraud, and third-party/banking-partner risk, including correspondent/nostro due diligence, and drive remediation of control gaps to closure.
Partner with Compliance,
Legal, and FinCrime on AML/CFT risk and STR/CBWTR reporting to FIU-IND; support audits (ISO 37301/27001) and regulatory examinations; and stay current on IFSCA, RBI, PMLA, and FATF guidance.
Preferred candidate profile
8 to 12 years in enterprise / operational / financial crime risk within fintech, payments, banks, or NBFCs, including team leadership.
Solid grasp of AML and cross-border payment typologies (layering, structuring), KYC/CDD/EDD, sanctions and PEP screening, and the PMLA landscape.
Hands-on with transaction monitoring and case management systems (rule design, threshold calibration, alert-to-STR/CBWTR workflows); able to build risk frameworks and registers from first principles.
CAMS certification desired.
Robust analytical, data-analysis, communication, and project-management skills, with the ability to present complex risk clearly to senior stakeholders and the Board.
Experience with cross-border payments ecosystems, correspondent / nostro banking, and SWIFT.
