Job Description – Dialysis Technician

Department: Dialysis Unit
Reports To: Dialysis In-Charge
Job Summary

The Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing protected, effective, and quality technical support during hemodialysis procedures. The role includes preparing and operating dialysis machines, maintaining equipment, assisting the clinical team, ensuring infection prevention practices, and monitoring the dialysis workplace in accordance with hospital policies and applicable standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Dialysis Procedure & Technical Responsibilities
Prepare and check dialysis machines, dialysis chairs/beds, and required equipment before each session.
Perform machine preparation, priming, disinfection, and safety checks as per protocol.
Set up the extracorporeal blood circuit and dialysis consumables correctly.
Assist the nursing and medical team during initiation, monitoring, and termination of dialysis.
Monitor dialysis machine parameters and immediately report abnormalities.




Identify and respond appropriately to machine alarms and technical problems.
Ensure proper disposal and replacement of dialysis consumables after each session.
Assist in emergency situations occurring during dialysis as directed by the clinical team.

B. Patient Care Support
Receive and prepare patients for dialysis in coordination with nursing staff.
Verify patient identification and dialysis prescription before starting the procedure.
Monitor the patient's general condition during dialysis and promptly report any abnormal signs or symptoms.
Maintain patient comfort, privacy, dignity, and safety throughout the procedure.
Record relevant treatment parameters and observations accurately.

C. Infection Prevention & Control
Strictly follow hospital infection control policies and dialysis-specific precautions.
Maintain proper hand hygiene and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
