Role Summary:
We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design of motion simulators and arcade gaming machines — from concept through to production-ready drawings. You'll own structural integrity, safety, and motion performance of systems that carry live users, so precision and rigor matter as much as creativity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design mechanical assemblies and structures in SolidWorks/AutoCAD for motion simulators and arcade cabinets
Select materials based on load, fatigue, environment, and cost (steel, aluminum, composites, plastics)
Calculate and validate center of gravity, weight distribution, and agile load paths for moving/rotating platforms
Define critical tolerances, fits, and mechanical measurements for manufacturability
Run stress, fatigue, and motion simulations (FEA) to validate designs before prototyping
Design linkages, actuator mounts, seating/cockpit structures, and enclosures
Finalize BOMs, GD&T; drawings, and manufacturing/assembly documentation
Collaborate with electrical, software, and game-design teams to align mechanical form with gameplay experience
Participate in game concept finalization — translating gameplay mechanics into physical motion/hardware requirements
Prototype, test,
and iterate; troubleshoot mechanical failures during testing
Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards for amusement/motion equipment
Required Skills & Experience:
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
3–7 years in mechanical design, ideally in simulators, robotics, automotive, or amusement equipment
Robust hands-on expertise in SolidWorks (mandatory) and AutoCAD
Solid grasp of material science, static/dynamic load analysis, and FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or similar)
Practical understanding of center of gravity, balance, and stability calculations for moving platforms
Robust command of GD&T;, tolerancing, and DFM/DFA principles
Experience taking a design from concept sketch to production drawing
Exposure to motion platforms, actuators (pneumatic/hydraulic/electric), or ride/simulator mechanisms is a strong plus
Preferred / Nice to Have:
Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC)
Familiarity with safety certifications for amusement rides (CE, ASTM F24, etc.)
Prior exposure to gameplay/UX discussions — able to bridge mechanical constraints with game design vision
Basic understanding of electronics/controls integration
