Job Description – AC & Refrigeration Trainer
Position: AC & Refrigeration Trainer / Technical Trainer
Location: Hyderabad, Telangana
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract
Department: Technical & Vocational Training
1. Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically competent AC & Refrigeration Trainer to conduct hands-on vocational training in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration systems.
The trainer will be responsible for delivering practical, workshop-based training that enables learners to understand, diagnose, service, repair and troubleshoot residential air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
The ideal candidate should have solid field experience in AC installation, servicing, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, refrigerant handling, electrical troubleshooting and basic refrigeration systems, together with the ability to demonstrate these skills clearly to beginner and intermediate-level learners.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Practical Training Delivery
· Conduct hands-on training sessions in AC and refrigeration systems.
· Demonstrate practical procedures before allowing learners to perform the activity.
· Train learners in the correct use of refrigeration and HVAC tools and equipment.
· Supervise learners during workshop activities and ensure safe working practices.
· Provide individual guidance and correction during practical sessions.
· Conduct demonstrations using actual AC and refrigeration equipment available in the training laboratory.
B. Air Conditioning Training
The trainer should be capable of providing practical training in:
· Split AC systems
· Window AC systems
· Basic inverter and non-inverter AC concepts
· AC installation and commissioning
· Copper pipe cutting, bending and flaring
· Refrigerant charging
· Vacuuming and evacuation
· Leak testing
· Pressure testing
· Condenser and evaporator servicing
· Compressor operation and troubleshooting
· Fan motor and blower troubleshooting
· Capacitor testing and replacement
· Thermostat and sensor troubleshooting
· Electrical wiring and component identification
· PCB and control-system basics
· Preventive maintenance and servicing
· AC performance testing
· Common cooling and electrical faults
C. Refrigeration Training
The trainer should provide practical exposure to:
· Domestic refrigerator systems
· Single-door refrigerators
· Double-door refrigerators
· Frost-free refrigerator systems
· Refrigeration cycle fundamentals
· Compressor operation
· Condenser and evaporator systems
· Capillary tube systems
· Thermostats and sensors
· Start relay and overload protection
· Refrigerant charging
· Leak detection
· Vacuuming and evacuation
· Compressor testing
· Cooling-performance diagnosis
· Electrical fault diagnosis
· Common refrigeration faults and corrective procedures
D. Electrical & Diagnostic Skills
The trainer will teach learners to:
· Read basic electrical wiring diagrams.
· Identify electrical and electronic components.
· Use a digital multimeter correctly.
· Use a clamp meter for electrical measurements.
· Test capacitors, motors, compressors and other electrical components.
· Identify open circuits,
short circuits and loose connections.
· Diagnose common electrical faults.
· Perform safe isolation and electrical testing procedures.
E. Tools & Workshop Management
· Demonstrate correct use of:
o Manifold gauge
o Vacuum pump
o Refrigerant weighing scale
o Tube cutter
o Tube bender
o Flaring tools
o Digital multimeter
o Clamp meter
o Leak detection equipment
o Brazing equipment
o Electrical testing equipment
· Maintain tools and training equipment in good working condition.
· Report damaged, missing or malfunctioning equipment.
· Assist management in identifying additional tools, consumables and equipment required for practical training.
3. Safety Responsibilities
The trainer must place strong emphasis on workshop and technical safety.
Responsibilities include:
· Ensuring learners follow appropriate PPE requirements.
· Demonstrating safe refrigerant handling procedures.
· Maintaining safe practices during brazing and heating operations.
· Ensuring safe handling of electrical equipment.
· Teaching proper pressure-testing procedures.
· Ensuring safe use of vacuum pumps and refrigerant charging equipment.
· Preventing unsafe practices during practical sessions.
· Maintaining a clean and organised training workshop.
· Following applicable safety standards and institutional procedures.
4. Assessment & Learner Evaluation
The trainer will:
· Conduct practical demonstrations and assessments.
· Evaluate learners’ technical skills and workshop practices.
· Prepare practical exercises and troubleshooting activities.
· Assess learners based on their ability to independently perform assigned tasks.
· Identify learners requiring additional support.
· Maintain practical assessment records and learner progress reports.
· Conduct fault-finding exercises based on real-world service scenarios.
5. Required Technical Competencies
The candidate should have practical working knowledge of:
· Domestic refrigeration
· Residential AC systems
· Split AC servicing
· Window AC servicing
· Refrigeration cycle
· Refrigerant handling
· Vacuuming and charging
· Copper pipe work
· Brazing
· Leak detection
· Electrical troubleshooting
· Compressor troubleshooting
· Motor and capacitor testing
· Basic control systems
· Preventive maintenance
· Fault diagnosis and repair
6. Educational Qualification
Preferred qualifications:
· ITI – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
· Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
· Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / related engineering discipline
· NCVT/SCVT or equivalent technical qualification
· Relevant vocational qualification in RAC/HVAC
Candidates with strong industry experience and demonstrable practical skills may also be considered.
7. Experience
Preferred experience:
3–5 years or more in:
· AC servicing and installation
· Refrigeration servicing and repair
· HVAC maintenance
· Field troubleshooting
· Domestic appliance repair
· Technical/vocational training
Candidates with substantial field experience and a strong ability to train beginners may be considered even without extensive formal teaching experience.
8. Training Experience
Prior experience as a:
· Technical Trainer
· RAC Instructor
· HVAC Trainer
· ITI Instructor
· Vocational Trainer
· Service Technician who has trained junior technicians
will be an advantage.
However, strong industry technicians with good communication and demonstration skills are encouraged to apply.
9. Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should:
· Be highly practical and technically competent.
· Be comfortable working directly with learners in a workshop environment.
· Have good troubleshooting ability.
· Be able to explain technical concepts in simple language.
· Be patient with beginner-level learners.
· Be capable of demonstrating procedures rather than relying only on theoretical explanations.
· Maintain professional discipline and workshop safety.
· Be willing to work with institutional laboratory equipment and training appliances.
· Be able to identify real-world faults and explain the diagnostic process.
10. Preferred Additional Skills
The following will be an advantage:
· Experience with inverter AC systems.
· Experience with modern refrigerator control systems.
· Basic PCB troubleshooting knowledge.
· Experience with multiple refrigerants such as R32, R410A, R22 and R134a.
· Experience with refrigerant recovery and charging.
· Experience with domestic appliance troubleshooting.
· Ability to develop practical fault-simulation exercises.
· Experience working with vocational/skill-development institutions.
11. Key Performance Expectations
The trainer is expected to ensure that learners completing the programme can progressively:
Identify → Test → Diagnose → Repair → Reassemble → Test Performance
The focus of the programme should be on practical technician competency, rather than purely theoretical instruction.
12. Working Location
Hyderabad, Telangana
The trainer will primarily conduct practical sessions at the institution’s training laboratory and may be required to support laboratory demonstrations, equipment setup and practical assessment activities.
13. Compensation
Salary / remuneration: To be discussed based on technical experience, practical competency, training experience and availability.
Candidates with strong field experience and the ability to independently conduct hands-on technician training will be given preference.
