Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a data team supporting two analysts. The role will focus on building and maintaining reliable data pipelines, developing scalable data models, and working closely with analysts to deliver high-quality data for business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

* Build reliable data ingestion systems using Python and PostgreSQL.

* Develop and maintain data pipelines with appropriate monitoring using Better Stack.

* Deploy and schedule data systems using Dagster, including managing dependencies between data workflows.

* Build and maintain staging, intermediate, and marts layers using dbt in PostgreSQL.

* Design scalable and well-governed dbt models that remain maintainable as the data platform grows.

* Work closely with analysts to understand business requirements and develop data needed to answer business questions.

* Follow established Python development templates, CI/CD practices, GitHub workflows, and AWS deployment processes using Terraform and GitHub Actions.

* Review, test, and maintain code quality, including AI-assisted code, ensuring a strong understanding of the implementation and its reliability.

Required Qualifications

* Strong, hands-on Python programming experience with the ability to independently write, understand, debug, and review production-quality code.





* Significant experience building complex data platforms using PostgreSQL and dbt.

* Solid expertise in dbt, including designing and managing staging, intermediate, and mart layers.

* Experience establishing data modeling standards, governance, testing, documentation, and maintainability practices in dbt.

* Experience building reliable data pipelines and data ingestion systems.

* Strong understanding of data engineering best practices, database design, and ETL/ELT processes.

* Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.

* Ability to work effectively with analysts and technical stakeholders on a daily basis.

* Reliable, high-speed internet connection suitable for continuous remote collaboration.

* Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate development while independently reviewing, testing, and validating AI-generated code.

Preferred Experience

* Dagster or similar workflow orchestration platforms.

* AWS and Terraform.

* GitHub Actions and CI/CD.

* Better Stack or similar application/data pipeline monitoring tools.

Working Arrangement

This is a full-time 40-hour/week role. Availability is required from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM America/Chicago time, Monday through Friday, to collaborate with the Kansas City-based analyst team. The remaining working hours can be scheduled flexibly.

Pay: ₹1,400,000.00 - ₹1,750,000.00 per year
