Designation | Senior API Security Engineering Lead Qualification | Graduate Bachelors Experience (in years) | 8 Job Description | Mission we are seeking a Senior API Security Engineering Lead to improve API visibility, security posture, and operational effectiveness across the enterprise. This role combines API Security expertise, software engineering, automation, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will support security investigations, remediation efforts, API inventory improvement, and development of strategic capabilities including a centralized API Security Portal that will act as a detailed repository for API inventory, ownership, risk, and security posture information. The role will also contribute to integrations with other internal platforms such API gateways, and cloud environments. Key Responsibilities API Security Operations (Approx. 60%) • Analyze and validate API Security findings from multiple sources. • Support risk assessments, prioritization, and remediation activities. • Investigate undocumented, shadow, orphaned, and internet-exposed APIs. • Improve API inventory accuracy and completeness. • Correlate APIs with applications, repositories, cloud assets, and business owners.



• Provide technical guidance on API Security controls and remediation approaches. • Support development of API risk scoring and security posture metrics. Engineering & Automation (Approx. 40%) • Develop automation and tooling to improve API Security operations. • Design & implement integrations with Akamai, Apigee, GitHub, and other internal platforms. • Contribute to update the enterprise API Security Portal, including inventory, ownership, security findings, historical reviews, and risk information. • Build dashboards, workflows, and reporting capabilities that improve API visibility and decision-making. • Continuously identify opportunities to replace manual processes with scalable engineering solutions. Skill Set Required | Experience • 5-8 years of experience in Software Engineering, Security Engineering, DevSecOps, or Platform Engineering. • Robust hands-on experience with Python and TypeScript. • Experience building enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and automation solutions. • Strong understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, API architectures, and API lifecycle management. • Experience with databases, cloud platforms, and production environments. • Understanding of OWASP API Security Top 10 and modern API Security practices.
