About the Role

Wexa.ai is looking for motivated Backend Developer Interns to join the Engineering team and work on CognoDB Cloud, our managed graph database platform.

As a Backend Intern, you will gain hands-on experience building APIs and backend services that support data handling, cloud infrastructure, performance, and scalability. You will work with real-world databases, write production-quality code, and learn how modern backend systems are designed and deployed.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs for the CognoDB Cloud platform.
- Develop APIs for data handling and platform features.
- Work with SQL or NoSQL databases and integrate them with backend applications.
- Write efficient database queries and improve application performance.
- Implement features following clean coding and software development practices.
- Write unit tests and help maintain reliable, production-ready code.
- Debug issues and troubleshoot backend and API-related problems.
- Work with Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product teams, and other engineers.
- Learn and apply best practices for scalable backend development.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong programming fundamentals and knowledge of at least one programming language:
- Python, Java, Node.js, Go,



.NET, PHP, or Ruby

- Basic understanding of REST API development.
- Hands-on experience with at least one database such as:

MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.

- Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
- Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
