Job Purpose

The Assistant Store Manager / Store Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the coffee store, leading and developing the café team, delivering an exceptional customer experience, maintaining coffee and product quality, achieving sales and profitability targets, and ensuring compliance with company SOPs, hygiene, safety, and operational standards.

The role requires a hands-on leader who can balance customer service, people management, coffee quality, sales, inventory, cost control, and overall store performance.

Key Responsibilities1. Store Operations

- Manage daily opening, operational and closing procedures of the store.
- Ensure the café is fully prepared and operational before service.
- Maintain smooth coordination between baristas, service staff, kitchen and cashier/POS teams.
- Ensure company SOPs, operating standards and service procedures are followed consistently.
- Monitor service speed, productivity and overall operational efficiency.
- Ensure store equipment, furniture and facilities are maintained properly.
- Handle operational issues and take timely corrective action.
- Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming store environment.

2. Team Leadership & People Management

- Lead, supervise and motivate the café team to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties according to business requirements.
- Conduct daily briefings and communicate sales, service and operational priorities.
- Train new employees on coffee, products, customer service and SOPs.
- Coach team members and provide regular performance feedback.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline and productivity.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and employee development.
- Build a positive, respectful and performance-oriented team culture.
- Recognize good performance and address performance or behavioural issues appropriately.

3. Customer Experience

- Maintain a strong customer-first culture across the store.
- Ensure customers receive friendly, efficient and consistent service.
- Personally handle customer complaints, escalations and service recovery.
- Monitor customer feedback, reviews and satisfaction levels.




- Build relationships with regular customers and the local community.
- Ensure staff demonstrate strong product knowledge and effective communication.
- Drive repeat business through excellent hospitality and customer engagement.

4. Coffee & Product Quality

- Maintain solid working knowledge of coffee, beverages and café products.
- Ensure espresso, milk-based beverages, brewed coffee and other products are prepared according to company recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor beverage presentation, consistency and portion control.
- Ensure correct grinder, espresso machine and beverage preparation practices.
- Conduct regular quality checks.
- Develop coffee knowledge within the team and encourage coffee appreciation.
- Ensure food and beverage products are stored, handled and served correctly.

5. Sales & Business Development

- Achieve daily, weekly and monthly store sales targets.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Drive upselling and cross-selling of beverages, food, retail coffee and merchandise.
- Promote seasonal products, new launches and promotional campaigns.
- Monitor average order value, transactions and customer conversion.
- Analyze sales trends and implement corrective or growth initiatives.
- Understand local customer preferences and competitor activity.

6. Inventory & Procurement

- Monitor daily stock levels and consumption.
- Ensure adequate availability of coffee, milk, food, packaging and other operational supplies.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO and appropriate storage practices.
- Monitor wastage, expiry, damage and stock discrepancies.
- Coordinate with vendors and the central procurement team.
- Ensure all incoming supplies meet quality and quantity requirements.

7. Cash & Cost Control

- Ensure accurate POS and cash-handling procedures.
- Monitor daily cash reconciliation and banking/deposit procedures as applicable.
- Review sales and operational reports.
- Control food, beverage and operating costs.
- Minimize wastage, pilferage, damages and stock losses.
- Monitor labour productivity and staffing efficiency.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures.




- Support achievement of store profitability targets.

8. Hygiene, Food Safety & Compliance

- Maintain high standards of hygiene, sanitation and food safety.
- Ensure employees follow personal grooming and hygiene standards.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are completed and documented.
- Maintain cleanliness of coffee machines, grinders, kitchen equipment and workstations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable food-safety requirements.
- Support internal audits, inspections and compliance checks.
- Immediately report safety, equipment or compliance concerns.

9. Reporting & Administration

- Maintain daily sales and operational reports.
- Monitor attendance, staffing and shift performance.
- Report inventory variances, wastage, damages and operational incidents.
- Review store KPIs and communicate performance to management.
- Participate in store meetings and business reviews.
- Maintain required documentation and records.
- Implement company initiatives, marketing campaigns and operational changes.

Assistant Store Manager – Additional Focus

The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in:

- Managing the store during assigned shifts.
- Supervising and deploying team members.
- Ensuring opening and closing procedures are completed correctly.
- Coaching baristas and service staff on shift.
- Handling customer escalations.
- Monitoring cash and POS procedures.
- Supporting inventory management and stock checks.
- Driving sales and upselling during shifts.
- Maintaining coffee, service, hygiene and operational standards.
- Taking charge of the store in the Store Manager's absence.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business Management, Retail Management or a related field preferred.
- Barista/coffee certification is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of coffee and café operations preferred.
- Good English and local-language communication skills.
- Basic computer and POS knowledge.

Experience

Assistant Store Manager:

- 2–4 years of experience in café, specialty coffee, QSR, restaurant, hospitality or retail operations.
- Previous supervisory

Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹26,000.00 per month
