Senior Design Engineer – Automobile Electronics Fixture Design

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer specializing in automotive electronics fixture design to develop, design, and validate testing fixtures, assembly fixtures, inspection fixtures, and end-of-line (EOL) test systems for automotive electronic products. The candidate will work closely with product design, manufacturing, quality, and testing teams to ensure robust, reliable, and cost-effective fixture solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesFixture Design & Development
- Design and develop functional test fixtures, ICT fixtures, EOL fixtures, assembly fixtures, and validation setups for automotive electronic modules.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.
- Design fixture mechanisms incorporating pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components.
- Develop fixture concepts based on customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Automotive Electronics Testing
- Design fixtures for testing automotive ECUs, BCMs, clusters, infotainment systems, sensors, power electronics, and wiring harnesses.
- Integrate probes, connectors, test pins, bed-of-nails assemblies, and interface boards into fixture designs.
- Ensure compliance with automotive quality and reliability standards.
Project Execution
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and DFMEA activities.
- Support fixture manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Manage project timelines, cost targets, and technical documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve fixture reliability, ergonomics, maintainability, and cycle time.
- Standardize fixture design methodologies and component libraries.
- Implement automation solutions to enhance testing efficiency.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in fixture design, preferably in automotive electronics manufacturing or testing environments.
- Hands-on experience designing fixtures for ECUs, sensors, control modules, or automotive electronic assemblies.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with pneumatic systems, linear guides, actuators, and mechanical assemblies.
- Understanding of automotive electronics testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with PCB fixtures, ICT fixtures, FCT fixtures, and EOL testing systems.
- Knowledge of automotive standards such as:
- IATF 16949
- ISO 9001
- APQP
- PPAP
- DFMEA
Preferred Skills
- Experience with automation systems and robotics integration.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics and control systems.
- Exposure to LabVIEW, PLCs, and automated test equipment (ATE).
- Vendor management and project leadership experience.
Soft Skills
