? Hiring: Senior Data Architect – Privacy-Preserving Data Platform

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to design and lead a privacy-preserving data platform that makes operational data usable for AI training while protecting the people represented in that data.
This is not simply a data lake implementation. You will define how data is stored, transformed, classified, governed, de-identified, and made safe for downstream AI/analytics use.
? What You’ll Do
• Design the data platform end to end, including data zones, storage architecture, Parquet partitioning, compaction, and evaluation of table formats such as Apache Iceberg.
• Define the de-identification standard, including appropriate techniques for different classes of data, generalization hierarchies, and k-anonymity thresholds for quasi-identifier combinations.
• Design data integration from transactional systems and AWS Athena-based data lakes, evaluating CDC vs. batch approaches.




• Select appropriate tokenization technology and work with security teams to design key-management approaches.
• Own data catalog, lineage, schema evolution, and data classification controls, including fail-closed mechanisms that prevent unclassified data from entering shared zones.
• Define and monitor platform targets around data freshness, cost per TB, and query performance.
• Act as the technical authority for the engineering team and work closely with privacy/data protection stakeholders.
? What We’re Looking For
• Around 8+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
• 3+ years designing data platforms that other engineering teams have built and operated.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS data lake/lakehouse technologies, including:
Amazon S3
AWS Glue
Amazon Athena
AWS Lake Formation or equivalent
• Robust understanding of Apache Parquet, including partitioning, file sizing, compaction, and performance implications.
