EverPay Technologies is building a digital payments platform focused on making payments, transfers and everyday financial transactions more accessible across African markets.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead to take technical ownership of our backend platform and help bring an existing fintech product through testing, production readiness and continued development.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You will write production code while also helping establish architecture, code quality, security and engineering standards as the team grows.
Responsibilities
* Own and develop EverPay’s backend architecture and APIs.
* Review and improve an existing fintech codebase.
* Build secure, scalable payment and transaction-processing services.
* Develop and maintain REST APIs and third-party integrations.
* Integrate payment gateways, banks, mobile-money providers and other financial APIs.
* Design and maintain database architecture.
* Implement authentication, authorization and secure transaction workflows.
* Work with AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
* Implement appropriate logging, monitoring and error handling.
* Participate in code reviews and establish engineering standards.
* Work closely with mobile and full-stack engineers.
* Troubleshoot development, staging and production issues.
* Help establish automated testing and CI/CD practices.
* Follow secure software-development and secrets-management practices.
* Document architecture, APIs and important technical decisions.
Must Have
* 5+ years of professional software-engineering experience.
* Strong backend engineering experience.
* Robust experience designing and building production APIs.
* Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL.
* Strong understanding of authentication, authorization and API security.
* Production experience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure.
