Role & responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end SAP implementation, rollout, migration, upgrade, and transformation projects.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, timelines, and success criteria.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, resource allocation, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functional SAP teams including functional consultants, technical consultants, developers, architects, integration teams, and business stakeholders.
- Manage SAP S/4HANA, ECC, SAP BTP, integration, data migration, testing, and infrastructure workstreams as applicable.
- Drive project execution using SAP Activate, Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project methodologies.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and mitigation plans.
- Establish project governance, steering committees, status reporting, and escalation mechanisms.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment between business objectives and SAP solutions.
- Manage external implementation partners, vendors, consultants, and system integrators.
- Monitor project progress against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resource plans.
- Lead project phases including Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run where SAP Activate is used.
- Oversee testing, data migration, cutover, go-live, hypercare, and transition to support.
- Manage change requests and ensure appropriate impact assessment and approvals.
- Ensure project documentation, governance, compliance, and quality standards are maintained.
- Present project status, financials, risks, and key decisions to senior management and steering committees.
- Drive continuous improvement and ensure successful business adoption of SAP solutions
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of overall IT/SAP experience, with substantial experience managing SAP implementation or transformation projects.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end SAP S/4HANA or ECC projects.
- Experience leading large, complex, multi-location or multi-country SAP programs is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Activate, Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies.
- Experience managing project scope, budget, timelines, resources, risks, dependencies, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of SAP functional and technical areas such as S/4HANA, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, Manufacturing, ABAP, Integration, Data Migration, and SAP BTP.
- Experience with Greenfield implementation, Brownfield conversion, SAP rollouts, upgrades, or cloud transformation.
- Strong understanding of SAP project lifecycle, governance, testing, cutover, migration, and go-live processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to interact with CXO-level executives.
- Robust leadership, negotiation, conflict-resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience managing system integrators, SAP partners, third-party vendors, and distributed teams.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, Azure DevOps, SAP Cloud ALM, or equivalent platforms.
- PMP, PRINCE2, SAP Activate, or equivalent project-management certification is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline; MBA/M.Tech/MCA is an advantage.
